Spirited Away

Connor Macgregor Reviews...Spirited Away

I love Anime. Not massively but i do think it is a better and more beautiful animation than CGI. One of Anime's finest works is a film called Spirited Away which in 9 years , has become a classic in the genre. Here is my review.

Chihiro and her family are on their way to their new house in the suburbs when her father decides to take a shortcut along a lonely-looking dirt road. After getting out of the car and walking along a path for a while, they discover an open-air restaurant filled with food but with no workers or customers present. Mom and Dad don't hesitate to sit down and dig in, but Chihiro senses danger and refuses. As night falls, she is terrified to see the area fill with faceless spirits, but when she runs to find her parents, she discovers that they have been turned into pigs. She is found by a mysterious boy named Haku, who promises to help her. He gets her a job working in a nearby building, which turns out to be a bathhouse for the thousands of Japan's gods and spirits. Though the work is hard and the people strange, she does as well as she can. Her parents, however, are still waiting in the hotel's stockyard...

Spirited Away is one hell of a great film to watch. So many good things to say about this. So i will start with the animation. Its beautiful in every sense of the word. Its like something beautiful happening and yet words cannot describe it. The Story is a really interesting , yet slow burning type. You have this young girl whose parents have mysteriously turned to pigs and has to join a hotel of sorts to somehow get her parents back. Sounds boring , but visually its fantastic and very moving and mysterious as a fantasy film.

Not much to say as i loved this film and everything about it. Characters , Story , Animation , Style , Colour , Lighting Etc. Spirited Away is a modern anime classic you should see to believe.
