Enchanted

This is a wonderful blend of your normal Disney fairy tale, and humor that adults can appreciate. It isn't risque/crude humor, or anything like that, but little subtle jokes, or bits of sarcasm, that kids will definitely miss in the film. Enchanted isn't just a film for children, but it is a film that all adults can enjoy a lot as well.

The humor is worked wonderfully into the film. Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey work extremely well together in the film, with an impecable comedic pacing. Especially at the beginning, some of Dempsey's reactions to things that Amy Adams does or says are simply great. Both of them, as well as James Marsden do good jobs acting in the film. Amy Adams character definitely steals the show though, with her amazing upbeat character.

Visually this film is pretty good as well. The blending of cartoon and live action is done perfectly, as the transitions work wonderfully from one part to another. The cartoon part has the classic feel to it of a Disney fairy tale. Also, the CGI in the film, with the dragon and chipmunk are done very well. The chipmunk definitely is a great character in the film.

One last part of this film is the songs. They work out nicely in the film. They are performed wonderfully, and choreographed well, as well. Especially the large musical peice in Central Park is done very well and is definitely fun to watch. I'm not a huge fan of musical/musical numbers typically, but it fits with the whimsical nature of the film.

Overall this isn't a film that is deep, but it has a nice little message of true love in it, and it is very, very entertaining and funny. Typically I have little interest in buying a fairy tale type of film, but I have a feeling once this drops from its original $20 price tag, I'll probably end up picking it up, because it was one of those films that you can watch and feel happy afterwards.
