The Man from Nowhere

The Man from Nowhere

Korea's highest grossing film of 2010, an outstanding action thriller!

Were I to be less objective I would give this movie a 5/5, but the truth is that the beginning drags a little bit… once our little girl gets kidnapped hold on to your popcorn!

The director skillfully denies us a front row seat to the early action. Instead we see intriguing shots that allude to how powerful our protagonist really is. This builds throughout the film until a final showdown that pulls out all of the stops.

The antagonists are the worst sort of gang. They will kill you, sell you into slavery, or cut you up and sell your organs. The most badass of them all only speaks english! Now that is power.. a gang of dangerous people still want to keep you around when you don't even speak their own language.

A very basic story, girl gets kidnapped and hero kills a lot of people trying to rescue her. The style, lighting, and atmosphere are superb! Action thrillers do not get any better. What an amazing movie, I've seen it many times over and even bought it on bluray for extra clarity. I just jump about 15 minutes into the film every time I watch it

There is blood and gore but it's not grotesque like some of the mainstream films I've seen come out of korea. Fantastic acting as well. You may recognize our action hero from the film "Mother" where he played a mentally retarded son. He has a lot of range and this role was originally written for a man in his 50s.

And there it is.
After two years I've written my first review
