Overall, the viewer must definitely pay attention to even the most fleeting of details in the auditory and visual imagery because, in classic Spielberg fashion, the story is ongoing in the seemingly mundane..

This is a movie where plot holes run wild....yes there are tons of them..

War of the Worlds is Spielberg's third Alien-related film and it's unanimously the weakest, that's to be expected though as ET and Close Encounters of The Third Kind are great films and staples of the Alien genre and hard to match in any department.
