Whether it's a pulse-pounding sequence of the man rowing his wife out to the middle of a lake while their frantic dog howls inconsolably, or a quietly sweet moment where the couple watches as a young man and young woman get married in a church, this movie has great emotional frequency.

Pedantic pathos, nave mindset and technical rawness seem relics of prehistoric times, and turn this movie into a living fossil predating civilization and even time itself.
Citizen Rules
One of the most beautiful techniques in the film is a flowing scene transition, where the man and woman are walking away from us and the background morphs into a different set.
