The fights scenes with Legolas were the highlights of the film for me, especially the scenes in Lake Town.

Smaug himself is incredibly well conceived, his scenes being by far the best in the film for me.

Overall, Desolation Of Smaug is an improvement from Film 1 and adds geniune exciting moments to keep the audience engaged, intrigued and wanting more for Film 3.
