People only see Tom Cruise being Tom Cruise.

True story is cinematic but this movie comes in the long line of American dream based movies like gold, wolf of wall street, war dogs and so on where in people are trying to chase money and gold and it just doesn't cut it for a movie in 2017 to be just a series of unbelievable true story events.

CIA agent Monty Schafer ( played by Domhnall Gleeson ) surprises TWA pilot Barry Seal ( played by Tom Cruise ) by showing him photos of his smuggling of Cuban cigars , and asks him to join the CIA to fly reconnaissance missions over south America where communist revolution is brewing .
