I really like the opening and ending of the movie but I feel the middle section suffers from the subplot where the main villain wanted to get the woman to end up with another guy, or whatever that was...

Based on the real life Leopold murder case...Two young intellectual college men decide to murder their classmate, who they consider to be inferior...just to prove that the perfect murder can indeed be committed.

Even though the idea of murder as sport is rather twisted, it's not nearly as twisted as Brandon's heinous justification for this crime...it would have been one thing if he and David had gotten in a struggle with a gun and it went off accidentally or if David was killed in self-defense, but to commi....

The movie is based on the Leopold and Loeb case and depicts a pair of obviously gay killers (or as obviously as a movie in 1948 could without outright saying it), and while on one level it's obviously a negative role, I think the movie is actually pretty bold in bringing the audience into their pers....
