Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski, a Los Angeles slacker who only wants to bowl and drink white Russians, is mistaken for another Jeffrey Lebowski, a wheelchair-bound millionaire, and finds himself dragged into a strange series of events involving nihilists, adult film producers, ferrets, errant toes, and large sums of money.

The dialogue doesn't gives us insight into the characters or move the story along.
Arguably the main strong point of the film are its incredible characters. The other Coen Brothers' films I really enjoy, Fargo and Burn After Reading have good character's too, but none of them stand out nearly as much.
The Dude drinks white russians and goes shopping in his bathrobe and pays for a quart of milk by check, but that's OK.
