RIP Gena Rowlands

RIP - my favorite actress..


I think her performance in "A Woman Under The Influence" is the greatest one I've seen, even better than any Brando. She's great anything her husband, John Cassavetes, directed her in.

Last thing I saw from her was a lame TV movie called Crazy In Love co-starring Holly Hunter and Frances McDormand (what a cast right?!)... gotta change that.

Minnie and Moskowitz

This one broke my heart. An absolutely amazing actress who was incapable of giving a bad performance. A Child is Waiting, Faces, Gloria, Opening Night, Hope Floats, Something to Talk About, Gloria, The Notebook, The Skeleton Key, The Betty Ford Story, Playing By Heart, and, of course, the film that should have won her an Oscar A Woman Under the Influence, possibly the single greatest dramatic performance by an actress ever. She never phoned it in and she never disappointed. An amazing cinematic light has been extinguished. RIP.

It's sad indeed.

I'm curious what are some other performances you'd consider the greatest?

Heard this when it happened but just now getting to this. Great actress with a long career. My favorite film with her was Gloria. Rest in peace, Gena.
