thoughts on phantom of the paradise

what are your thoughts on phantom of the paradise from brian de palma

I think it's visually stimulating with a fun, macabre edge to it, it's a cool hybrid of Phantom Of The Opera and Faust and Rock and Roll, it's sufficiently weird to be fun, really, I think if the music was better the movie would work pretty well. Life At Last is probably the only really strong song and that's not enough for a musical.
I enjoy the movie and watch it every few years, but it could have really popped with a better soundtrack.

It's really good, arguably one of DePalma's best.
