"John Carpenter is strongly hinting he’s about to turn his cult 1987 horror film Prince Of Darkness into a TV show. Following the box-office disappointment of Big Trouble In Little China, Carpenter decided to take a break from studio projects and return to smaller films. Prince Of Darkness was first of these low-budget projects and involves a group of academics gathering in an abandoned church to investigate whether a mysterious canister of liquid really contains the son of the Devil - spoiler alert, it does.

In a recent interview with Consequence Of Sound, the director revealed he’s talking to horror streaming service Shudder about composing a theme for one of their projects, and then hinted, “And maybe doing a show for them. What would you think about Prince of Darkness as a TV show?

Following that tease, Carpenter quickly responded with “Well, maybe. Maybe not. I don’t know,” so it appears nothing is concrete just yet. While the movie was relatively contained, there’s a lot of room to expand the concept, in addition to exploring the themes of science vs religion. Time will tell if the show goes ahead, but given the buzz around Halloween (2018) and renewed interest in Carpenter’s work, it feels like a real possibility."
