Preface: I like Jennifer Lawrence as an actress. I don't think she's great, but she's above average in my eyes. I say this because the wife got me into Hunger Games and she's a decent Mystique in X-MEN. I find her to be nice-looking, but don't really feel drawn to her appearance. I wouldn't call her ugly. I don't want to make this a hate topic, but it just reeks of Hollywood fluff.
Now, I've seen several articles about her first nude scenes in Red Sparrow and how 'going nude' empowered her after the infamous nude photo hack in 2014. I've also seen some articles about her being nude on set to feel more comfortable? Not sure what's true anymore, but it sounds like much ado about nothing.
Why?
I've seen Red Sparrow and she's kinda/sorta nakey? There's the one scene where she
, another scene in
and the "big" scene I'd read about where she
It just seems like for her first time being nude, it really isn't much to brag about. I mean, I guess I'm happy for her, but I'm not sure it warrants the weird behavior on set and the excessive sense of empowerment.
Some articles said it was "explicit" and "exploitative", but I really thought it would be something worth talking about. I got an Ex Machina vibe from the articles, and how Alicia Vikander has that memorable and poignant nude scene. People called that exploitative, but I thought it worked for what Alex Garland was going for.
But hey, if that makes J-Law feel better about the scandal, whatever. Plus the movie kinda blew, so overall a lame experience. I had thought it was going to be better, not only for the T&A, but for the story.

is about to be raped that has the guy tearing off her panties and exposing her crotch but I didn't see much and then he gets killed

the shower where she is jumped from behind (nude presumably, but not visibly nude on camera) and she overpowers the guy with the water knob temperature and beats the piss out of him

is in like a court room testing place and strips from her business casual look. You see her in bra and panties, then a butt shot from behind with panties, then her bare ass, and some breast visibility from the front. She proceeds to splay herself out on the table for the taking, but the guy obscures any vaginal view. Like, what's the point in that decision? It reminded me of Natalie Portman in Closer, when she flashes Clive Owen's character her snatch. I would hope these girls are wearing modesty patches or something, because, again, what's the point if the camera can't see it? I know that frontal vaginal shots are not a thing in movies, but I've seen lots of bush and some more explicit stuff in other movies that pushed the limits of the MPAA. And we all know it's okay to show a guy's package way too much.
