What did you guys think of that movie Happy Death Day?

For me I thought it was alright, I'd give it a 7/10. I liked how they toyed with the whole time warp thing with her dying until she finds out who her killer is instead of dragging it out. Pretty much made it out of some comic relief. which I like when they make some horror movies with comedy in it.

Another thing I got to say about the movie, we finally we get a good horror movie slasher ending in a long time and not a sucky one like the crap that was pulled in the strangers movie that was made back in 08

I liked it, it felt like a throwback to the late 90s teen slasher craze.
Better than than torture porn any day.
This is also one of the main reasons I really liked it. As a 90s kid during the Scream era, Happy Death Day felt like one of the many horror films that came out after Scream was such a hit. It gave me a sort of nostalgia. In fact, it would have been genius had it taken place in the 90s instead of now.

With that said, the movie is light and fun, never scary or tense, but its high entertainment value saves it. I would have loved the **** out of it as a teenager, even more than I do at 27. And the 13 year old crowd was going crazy for it. It's kind of nice to just get a funny, breezy, horror comedy when I'm so inclined to the grim ones that make you feel like ****.

Also, Jessica Rothe is a STAR. She carries this film entirely on her own two shoulders and never makes a misstep. I loved the arc of her character, again nothing groundbreaking, but Rothe charisma really drives the whole thing. She has a bright future ahead of her, hopefully, and it's worth seeing for her performance alone.

Also if you liked Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens (at least the first season), this is definitely up your alley.

I enjoyed it. It was an exciting movie and decently made. I liked the twist at the end but......

The part where she kicked her out of the window was by far the worst part in the movie.

For me I didn't mind when Tree kicked her out of the window, I thought it was funny how the way her sister's body splats on the ground lol

Yea it sure did. What did you think of the Killer's mask? I don't think it was scary more funny looking. I cracked up at the fountain scene, as the killer lunges at the guy. Hopefully they do more horror comedy slasher movies like this because it seems like that's the only way the slasher genre can stay alive.

Thought it was OKish in a teen-slasher-update kinda way. Found the parts with her dad a bit contrived. Would have been nice had she been an uber-bitch for *no* reason!!

Happy Death Day

This is a tough one, I'm still trying to process what I saw. Happy Death Day is basically Groundhog Day re-imagined as a slasher film. The lead character "Tree" is a sorority sister who is murdered in an elaborate birthday themed murder only to have her wake up the next day.

Tree is an awful human being so you've got a number of possible murder suspects. As each death comes and goes she becomes a bit smarter and the suspects are eliminated one by one until we get to the final reveal.

As a horror film it was a bit lacking, knowing that she wakes up the next day takes a bit of the sting out of the murders which is unfortunate for a slasher. You also have a number of plot holes, contrivances, and the resolution leaves a bit to be desired.

Actually their are a number of maddening things that nitpickers are going to hate...like the romantic leads feel like they are ten years apart, you don't understand how that college exists and one of the sorority sister behaves and acts like she doesn't belong in the same sorority. But you can move past that because it's funny, it's actually really funny. There is a Ghostbusters/What About Bob style to the film including the best fart joke I've seen in years. You also find yourself engaged with the story, it's fast paced and Tree is a lot of fun if not somewhat inconsistent a character.

"For me I thought it was alright, I'd give it a 7/10" >> How is a movie alright and it gets a 7?

I enjoyed it but think it would've been better with an R-rating. Something about the slasher genre and the PG-13 rating just doesn't mesh well. But this was an amusing enough effort, I'd give it about a 7/10. Good but not great.

Rock music and action movie obsessed guy,
Meh, it's pretty okay, I prefer friday the 13th or halloween series over it
