Looking for a movie about waking from a coma

OK bare with me. This may or not be a movie. If it's not, I may write a (bad) screenplay.

The basic premis is: a man has wonderfully magical mystical things happen to him over the course of an hour and a half of screen time. Think Big Fish mixed with Forrest Gump and Walter Mitty. After an hour and a half, the latest adventure is just about coming to an end, when we cut to a guy reading from a book - to a comatose man in a hospital bed. The book story corresponds to the latest adventure the man was having.

Have I just described the plot to a terrible film, or have I just made up / rehashed a terrible film idea based on the whole "and then I woke up and it was all a dream" notion?
