French Version of Old Moulin Rouge/French Cabaret Movie

Tools

Hi,

I remember hearing somewhere about an old film that was set in and around the Moulin Rouge or a similar French cabaret show where the French version featured footage from the actual cabaret show, but the American release didn't because it featured topless dancers. I'm very keen to see the French version of the film. Does anyone know which film it is?

Thank you.

Sit Ubu Sit.... Good Dog
French Cancan (1954)

Renoir’s mastery as a filmmaker is present as are his pet interests of humanism and class differences. Watch his attention to human behavior in crowd scenes, the competing sects at the raucous dance club, the pettiness and abandon of the dance rehearsal room (something that distinguishes French Cancan from its American musical counterparts is the casual nudity.
The whole movie is on Youtube.

I was going to post that but I only remembered the topless parts offstage. But I'm sure you're right.

Thank you very much for the help.

I watched it, but there were only a couple of very brief off-stage glimpses. I'd read that there was more, although unfortunately I can't remember where.
