man wrongly accused???

Crime/thriller: I recall a man being wrongly accused of a murder (his wife?)
and while in prison, figures out a way to dig out and cause havoc, then sneak back in and appear innocent...all the while he was getting even.

In one scene, I recall he was basically disecting the original bad guy.

In a final scene, the cops surround the house and he walks out, hands up and NAKED (that part I remember!)

I want to think that the actor was Mel Gibson, Russell Crowe...but I have
looked through their respective movies and don't see any titile that sounds correct.
