First Teaser Trailer for ‘I Spit on Your Grave’ Remake

We all know that remakes are all the rage in Hollywood right now, but it seems that horror movie remakes are getting the most attention. The Fog, Halloween, The Blob, The Birds, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last House on the Left and several others are currently in some phase of production. A few have already been released, and of those, not many are considered to be better than the original.

Cinetel Films is looking for director Steven Monroe to change that trend with their remake of the 1978 cult-classic I Spit on Your Grave. The original was first called Day of the Woman but eventually it came to be known only by the grave-spitting title people are most familiar with now.

I Spit on Your Grave stars Sarah Butler (couple episodes of CSI: NY) as novelist Jennifer Hills, who goes to an isolated cabin in the woods to have some alone time to work on her next project. She is soon terrorized by a group of local men who beat, rape and leave her for dead in a river. However, Jennifer doesn’t die and decides to take revenge on all of her attackers. What follows is retribution of an extreme nature.

Enjoy the trailer below:

Also starring in I Spit on Your Grave are Chad Lindberg, Daniel Franzese, Tracy Walter, Rodney Eastman, Jeff Branson and Mollie Milligan.

I own the original. It was pretty bad, pure exploitation. Did it really need to be remade? Roger Ebert said that it is one of the worst films ever put to celluloid and it even made my bottom 100 list.

the remake has that tint to it the michael bay produced films have to make it look darker, the origional is pretty nasty but the plot is.
i will give it go watching it and see what happens.

Sorry Harmonica.......I got to stay here.
The original was made by an outfit called Independent International. I worked as a production assistant on "Raiders of the Living Dead" (1986) which was another one of their bad exploitation flicks. They had a this great store room with all their movie posters, ie, House of Psychotic Women, Africa in Flames, all these crazy movies. The movies sucked, but the posters were excellent. Wish I still had them!

The original is a very strange film that is just rape after rape after rape and is very hard to watch.

What's sad is I think the remake is gonna suck just because more than likely it won't have the shock value of the original's continuous female rape scenes. It would be like remaking Pink Flamingos.

I'll probably see it.

15,000 feet above you and falling fast...
I just watched the remake of this. I went into it completely blind.. I didn't bother to... you know... research anything about it. To be honest, I thought it was going to be a comedy when I saw it on the list. Oh boy, was I wrong.

I am a registered nurse. There isn't a bodily fluid of varrying colors, textures, odors and or substance that I haven't seen. Nearly nothing gets to me. (I have one of those cast iron skillet stomaches, trust me, I've seen some pretty grose stuff.) There were no less than 2 scenes in that movie that made me gag.

Ick. Horrible movie.

I've not seen this, but have (surprisingly) read a couple of reviews that weren't too bad. Not that I think you're going to need this advice, Fialynn, but don't watch the original if this made you gag.

BTW, was it the rape scene or the revenge killings that made you gag? I'd expect the rape scene to be a lot stronger in the original (it's truly horrible and goes on for about 20 minutes) but, I guess, the killings could be more graphic.

15,000 feet above you and falling fast...
I have no idea how to do the spoiler thing.. but it was the scene where she shoved things into their mouths, in particular after she cut it off. I still shutter..

I didn't even finish the original and quite honestly I pressed fast forward on most of the part I did watch. There didn't seem to be much of a point.
