Here's some of my favorites, just because of the originality involved:

System of a Down: Bounce
Jump, Bounce, Down, Up

I went out on a date,
With a girl, a bit late,
She had so many friends,
Gliding through many hands.
I brought my pogo stick,
Just to show her a trick,
She had so many friends,
Gliding through many hands.

Jump Pogo?..
Bounce Pogo,
Down Pogo, Up Pogo

Unannounced twister games,
All players with no names,
They lined up double quick,
But just one pogo stick,
Everyone gets to play,
Runaway, expose',
It was so exotic,
But just one pogo stick.

Jump Pogo?..
Bounce Pogo,
Down Pogo, Up Pogo

Oh, I like to spread you out,
Touching whoever's behind

Jump Pogo?..
Bounce Pogo,
Down Pogo, Up Pogo

I'll post more later.

Warning: Profanity ahead

Jay Z - "Jigga What, Jigga Who", 1st verse:

Muthaf--kas wanna act loco?
Hit 'em with, numerous
Shots with the 44
F-ggots wanna talk to po po?
Smoke 'em like cocoa
F--k rap
Coke by the boatload
F--k that
On the run by, gun high, one eye closed
Left holes through some guy's clothes
Stoppin' bulls--t
Glock with the full clip
Muthaf--kas better jump when the fool spit
One shot could make a n--ga do a full flip
See the n--ga laying shocked when the bullet hit
Oh hey man, how you?
Know n--gas wanna buy you
But see me, I wanna f--k for free
Like Akineyle
Take this ride, make you feel it inside your belly
If it's tight, get the KY Jelly
All day, all night
Moving side to side
Til you say, "Jay Z, you're too much for me"!\

Aphex Twin, "Come to Daddy"

I WANT YOUR SOUL
I NEED YOUR SOUL
I WANT YOUR SOUL
I WILL EAT YOUR SOUL

COME TO DADDY
COME TO DADDY
COME TO DADDY
COME TO DADDY
COME TO DADDY
COME TO DADDY
COME TO DADDY
DON'T YOU LOVE ME?

..and so on and so forth

I'll post more later, as well.

Now With Moveable Parts
We are building a religion
We are building it bigger
We are widening the corridors
and adding more lanes

We are building a religion
A limited edition
We are now accepting callers
for the pendant key chain

It is usless to resist us
To resist us is useless
His cigarette is burning
but it never seems to ash

He is grooming his poodle
He is living comfort eagle
You can meet at his location
but you better bring cash

Now his hat is on backwards
He can show you his tatoos
He is in the music business
He is calling you," dude."

Now today is tomorrow
and tomorrow today
and yesterday is weaving in and out

He is handling the money
He is serving the food
He knows about the party
He is calling you," DUDE."

Now do you believe
In the one big sign
The doublwide shine
On the bootheels of your prime

Doesn't matter if you're skinny
Doesn't matter if you're fat
You can dress up as a SULTAN
In your onion head hat.

Take a bite of this apple
Mr. corperate EVENTS
Take a walk thru
the jungle of carboard shanties and tents

Some people drink Pepsi
Some people drink Coke
A morning DJ
Says democracy's a joke

*kind of repeats itself from here.
all I've gots to say:
CAKE-the band of choice.

Jay-Z? Oh man. He's a pizzunk. Decent music at times, but needlessly vulgar, and it's all starting to sound the same to me...I call it "Green Day Syndrome." Oh, and that "I WILL EAT YOUR SOUL" stuff is pretty freaky. Call me nuts, but I don't get "Aphex Twin." That "Boy/Girl Song" thing had, what, no words at all? Music was okay...but d*mnitt, I wanna sing along.

Anyway, one of my favorites:

"Come Together" (chorus omitted )
Here come ol' flat top
He come groovin' up slowly
He's got joo joo eyeball
He one holy roller
He got hair down to his knees
Got to be a joker he just do what he please
He wear no shoeshine
He's got toe jam football
He's got monkey finger
He shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me
He bag production
He's got walrus gum-boot
He's got ono sideboard
He one spinal cracker
He got feet down through his knees
Hold you in his armchair
You can feel his disease
Come together right now over me
He roller coaster
He's got early warning
He's got muddy water
He one mojo filter
He say "one and one and one is three"
Got to be good looking 'cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me
It makes no damn sense as far as I can tell...and it's still great to sing along with.

Oh, and MJ's new album is out! "Heartbreaker" is particular good (http://display.lyrics.astraweb.com:2000/display.cgi?michael_jackson..invincible..heartbreaker). I think most of you would really dig "2000 Watts," too. Great, upbeat, song.

Now With Moveable Parts
Good 'ol MJ, 'eh, T? Well his dance music might kick @ss...but he's no wordslinger. What's that one song when the middle part has like that african sounding chant in it? Sounds like," MammasaymaamasayI'm mufasa." What the heck is that part even saying? I can't stand listening to music that you can't understand unless you have the lyrics sittin' right in front of you.

That's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" -- which is a great song! It's fun, and odd. "You're a vegetable!" Anyway, some of his lyrics are crap, but I think "Heartbreaker" has got some good ones. Of course, the tune is 100 times better. "2000 Watts" has simple, straightforward lyrics. I admire how simple it is, while still being a great song.

Now With Moveable Parts
As far as simple lyrics go, I do like MJ's P.Y.T.- But that's because I'm a dancin' fool. No one busts down a dance tune better than Jackson...well, Madonna's a close second, when I'm in the mood for that kind of dancin'. I'd rather get dirty and low down to some gritty rock, like the Black Crowes: Downtown Money Waster
to my low down downtown
money waster
your only saving grace
is that i liked to taste ya
but your flower is spoiled
to easy to make you
you got a .38 and your book of revelations
i got a .44 and a load of temptation

i am a rounder, like to round around

two for one at the store on the corner
little girl like to drink and sniffin' powders
like the bars that stay open after hours
like the boys that go over 24-7
too many late nights and you don't go to heaven

i am a rounder like to round around

THE BALLAD by Millencolin

The last selection in the ballgame.
Does never get a pass. Not appreciated's just his first name.
He's the scapegoat of the class.
There are no friends to cheer him up and no girls, no sweet romance.
It's impossible to expand, when you never get a second chance.

Do you know, who's that guy, who's all alone?
Do you care enough to see? He's in pain and misery.

He's not going to the school-prom. He said he had the flu.
Trumped-up excuses as he told mom.
- I´m safer here with you.
She told her son.
- Someday, they'll all be sorry for mistreating you.
Don't be afraid my son and trust me,
-You'll be someone they will look up to.

Do you know, who's that guy, who's all alone?
Do you care enough to see? He's in pain and misery...
Do you care to see?

Do you know, who's that guy, who's all alone?
Do you care enough to see? He's in pain and misery.

In Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs
of every head he's had the pleasure to have known
and the people that come and go, stop and say hello.

On the corner is a banker with a motorcar
and little children laugh at him behind his back
and the banker never wears a mask, in the pouring rain, very strange.

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes,
there beneath the blue suburban skies,
I sit a meanwhile back...

In Penny Lane there is a fireman with an hourglass
and in his pocket is a portrait of the queen.
He likes to keep his fire engine clean, it's a clean machine.

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
for a fish and finger pies, in summer, meanwhile back,

Behind the shelter in the middle of a roundabout
The pretty nurse is selling poppies from a tray
and though she feels as if she's in her place, she is anyway.

In Penny Lane the barber shoots another customer,
we see the banker sitting waiting for a trim
and the fireman rushes in from the pouring rain, very strange.

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes, there beneath the blue suburban skies, I sit and meanwhile back, Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes, there beneath the blue suburban skies... Penny Lane!

Standing in the dock at Southampton,
trying to get to Holland or France.
The man in the mac said, "You've got to turn back".
You know they didn't even give us a chance.
Christ you know it ain't easy,
you know how hard it can be.
The way things are going,
they're going to crucify me.
Finally made the plane into Paris.
Honey mooning down by the Seine.
Peter Brown called to say,
"You can make it O.K.,
you can get married in Gibraltar, near Spain".
Christ you know it ain't easy,
you know how hard it can be.
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me.
Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton,
talking in our beds for a week.
The newspapers said, "Say what you doing in bed?".
I said, "We're only trying to get us some peace".
Christ you know it ain't easy,
you know how hard it can be.
The way things are going,
they're going to crucify me.
Saving up your money for a rainy day,
giving all your clothes to charity.
Last night the wife said,
"Oh boy, when you're dead,
you don't take nothing with you,
but your soul - think!"
Made a lightning trip to Vienna,
eating chocolate cake in a bag.
The newspapers said, "She's gone to his head,
They look just like two gurus in drag".
Christ you know it ain't easy,
You know how hard it can be.
The way things are going,
they're going to crucify me.
Caught an early plane back to London.
Fifty acorns tied in a sack.
The men from the press said, "We wish you success,
It's good to have the both of you back".
Christ you know it ain't easy,
you know how hard it can be.
The way things are going,
they're going to crucify me.
The way things are going,
they're going to crucify me.

Fat and docile, big and dumb
They look so stupid, they aren't much fun
Cows aren't fun

They eat to grow, grow to die
Die to be et at the hamburger fry
Cows well done

Nobody thunk it, nobody knew
No one imagined the great cow guru
Cows are one

He hid in the forest, read books with great zeal
He loved Che Guevera, a revolutionary veal
Cow Se Tongue

He spoke about justice, but nobody stirred
He felt like an outcast, alone in the herd
Cow doldrums

He mooed, "we must fight, escape or we'll die!"
Cows gathered around, cause the steaks were so high
Bad cow pun

But then he was captured, stuffed into a crate
Loaded into a truck, where he rode to his fate
Cows are bummed

He was a scrawny calf, who looked rather woozy
No one suspected he was packing an Uzi
Cows with guns

They came with a needle to stick in his thigh
He kicked for the groin, he pissed in their eye
Cows well hung

Knocked over a tractor and ran for the door
Six gallons of gas flowed out on the floor
Run cows run!

He picked up a bullhorn and jumped up on the hay
"We are free roving bovines. We run free today.
We will fight for bovine freedom
And hold our large heads high!
We will run free with the Buffalo, or die!"
Cows with guns

They crashed the gate in a great stampede
Tipped over a milk truck, torched all the feed
Cows have fun

Sixty police cars were piled in a heap
Covered in cow pies, covered up deep
Much cow dung

Black smoke rising, darkening the day
Twelve burning McDonalds, have it your way

The president said, "Enough is enough
These uppity cattle, its time to get tough!"
Cow dung flung

The newspapers gloated, folks sighed with relief
Tomorrow at noon, they would all be ground beef
Cows on buns

The cows were surrounded, they waited and prayed
They mooed their last moos, they chewed their last hay
Cows outgunned

The order was given to turn cows to Whoppers
Enforced by the might of ten thousand coppers
But on the horizon surrounding the shoppers
Came the deafening roar of chickens in choppers. . . .

This day and age we're living in
Gives cause for apprehension
With speed and new invention
And things like fourth dimension
Yet we get a trifle weary
With Mr. Einstein's theory
So we must get down to earth at times
Relax relieve the tension
And no matter what the progress
Or what may yet be proved
The simple facts of life are such
They cannot be removed
You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny
Well, it's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by
Oh yes, the world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

I could go on and on and on forever with brilliant songs.
But I shant.

the freshmen* by The Verve Pipe

When I was young I knew everything
and she a punk who rarely ever took advice
now i'm guilt stricken, sobbing with my head on the floor
stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice

I can't be held responsible
cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
she fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
what made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
for the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
we were merely freshmen

My best friend took a week's vacation to forget her
his girl took a week's worth of valium and slept
now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his head on the floor
thinks about her now and how he never really wept he says

I can't be held responsible
cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
she fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
what made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
for the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
we were merely freshmen

We've tried to wash our hands of all of this
we never talk of our lacking relationships
and how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our heads on the floor
we fell through the ice when we tried not to slip, we'd say

I can't be held responsible
cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
she fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
what made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
for the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
we were merely freshmen

Speak to me in a language I can hear
Humor me before I have to go
Deep in thought, I forgive everyone
As the cluttered streets greet me once again
I know I can't be late
Supper's waiting on the table
Tomorrow's just an excuse away
So I turn my collar up and face the cold
On my own

The earth laughs beneath my heavy feet
At the blasphemy in my old jangly walk
Steeple guide me to my heart and home
The sun is out and up and down again
I know I'll make it
Love can last forever
Graceful swans of never topple to the earth
And you
Can make it last, forever you
Can make it last, forever you

And for a moment I lose myself
Wrapped up in the pleasures of the world
I've journeyed here and there and back again
But in the same old haunts I still find my friends
Mysteries not ready to reveal
Sympathies I'm ready to return
I'll make the effort, love can last forever
Graceful swans of never topple to the earth
Tomorrow's just an excuse, tomorrow's just an excuse
And you
Can make it last, forever you
You can make it last, forever you

"Thirty Three" by Smashing Pumpkins

_____

Wake.. from your sleep
Dry away your tears
Today we escape, we escape

Pack.. and get dressed
Before your father hears us
Before all hell breaks loose

Breathe, keep breathing
Don't lose your nerve
Breathe, keep breathing
I can't do this alone

Sing.. us a song
A song to keep us warm
There's such a chill, such a chill

You can laugh
A spineless laugh
We hope your rules and wisdom choke you
Now we are one in everlasting peace

We hope that you choke, that you choke
We hope that you choke, that you choke
We hope that you choke, that you choke

Radiohead, "Exit music (for a film)"

___

Yo, it's one universal law but two sides to every story
Three strikes and you're bitten for life, mandatory
Four MC's murdered in the last four years
I ain't tryin to be the fifth one, the millenium is here
Yo it's 6 Million Ways to Die, from the seven deadly thrills
Eight-year olds gettin found with 9 mill's
It's 10 P.M., where your seeds at? What's the deal?
He on the hill pumpin crills to keep they bellies filled
Lighten they a-s with heavy steel
Sights on the pretty sh-t in life
Young soldiers tryin to earn they next stripe
When the average minimum wage is $5.15
You best believe you gotta find a new grind to get cream
The white unemployment rate, is nearly more than triple for black
So frontliners got they gun in your back
Bubblin crack, jewel theft and robbery to combat poverty
And end up in the global jail economy
Stiffer stipulations attached to each sentence
Budget cutbacks but increased police presence
And even if you get out of prison still livin
Join the other five million under state supervision
This is business, no faces just lines and statistics
From your phone, your zip code, to S-S-I digits
The system breaks man, child, and women into figures
Two columns for who is, and who ain't n-ggas
Numbers is hardly real and they never have feelings
But you push too hard, even numbers got limits
Why did one straw break the camel's back?
Here's the secret:
There's a million other straws underneath it - it's all mathematics

I saw some serious jiggling going on to this song last night.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I'm feeling in a reflective and sad mood tonight.

I'm half sad, half annoyed, because that song bugs the heck out of me. Lenin had his moments, though. "Beautiful Boy" was particularly nice.

It chills every republican bone in my body

I was at a club of sorts.

TWT are you saying that "Imagine" by JOHN LENNON...bugs you?!

Hell shall break loose over this one, I see.

One of the greatest songs ever made, and made by one of the greatests artists of the 1990's. Actually read these lyrics because they are quite powerful:

Changes by 2Pac

Come on come on I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein' poor and even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro pull the trigger kill a ***** he's a hero
Give crack to the kids who the hell cares one less ugly mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is

[chorus]

Come on come on That's just the way it is Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is aww yeah
[Repeat]

I see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right
'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game
Now tell me what's a mother to do bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin' crack to the kid. " I gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it is

[chorus]

We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.
And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace
It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do
But now I'm back with the blacks givin' it back to you
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up, crack you up and pimp slap you up
You gotta learn to hold ya own
they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone
But tell the cops they can't touch this
I don't trust this when they try to rush I bust this
That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't cool my mama didn't raise no fool
And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped & I never get to lay back
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs
some buck that I roughed up way back comin' back after all these years
rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh

[chorus]
[Edited by OG- on 11-04-2001]

My cousin is obsessed with that song.
Last Christmas I had to listen to it so many times over and over again. I got a liking for it, but I don't know.

Question:
Is he dead, or in hiding??
