Overdue UPDATE:
Madagascar opened at $47-million and will pass $190-million for its total by the end of this weekend.
The Longest Yard re-make also opened at $47-million and is pretty much done at the $156-million mark now. The two virtually tied on their head-to-head opening weekend, but the family fare of Madagascar carried it a bit further.
And folks, this is why Adam frippin' Sandler keeps getting to make movies. Despite universally horrible reviews and being totally unnecessary this hunk o' ***** pulled in over $150-million anyway! For any of you in MoFo land who payed to see this even at a discount second-run theater, I say to you, "For shame".
