Thanks for stealing my avatar "The Taxi Driver". Oh well, I guess I asked for it for leaving the site for so long. Forgiven.

Movies that need to be seen?

Well, I would say...

"Stardust Memories"
"Cul De Sac"
"Paper Moon"
"Trash"
"Shadows"
"Barton Fink"
"Boogie Nights"
"Before The Revolution"
"The Crowd"
"Rashomon",
"Down By Law"
The opening sequence of "Persona"
"The Passion of Joan of Arc"
"Sunrise" (the one by Murnau)
"Pickup on South Street"
"Buffallo 66"

And on and on...

Ummm yeah. That's an essential.

I don't like all tehse people posting all these new trendy movies like Fight Club or Pulp Fiction. Yeah, I admit I like these movies but they are NOT essential viewing for one to understand film. Maybe with Pulp Fiction. Okay scratch that. But showy style does not make a film essential viewing. And by showy style i mean annoying style.

i think fight club is truly an excellent film that has an excellent style and is in no way annoying. And pulp fiction i think is on pretty much anyone's top ten list of must see films, what would you prefer, Van Helsing?

look all im saying is that fight club isn't a great movie. its just trendy. and its NOT essential viewing. not to be pretentious, but iconsider older movies essential viewing. and some new movies. but not these trendy, hip movies where the only point is to make a ****ed up shot.
