Things You Do NOT Wanna See In A Movie?

The over used, vomit reaction scene...you know somebody learns of something horrible that has happened, so they vomit. Do people even do this in real life? They sure puke a lot in movies though.
I cant stand it. Seeing someone vomit actually makes me vomit.

- Prolonged sex-scenes. As a matter of fact, sex-scenes in general. Most of the time they're out of place and non-beneficial to the film.
- Excessive profanity and violence
- Pretension and self-indulgence from a director
- Needless montages
- Glorification of people who don't deserve to be glorified
- Mark Wahlberg and his douchebag face
- Will Smith's dumbass son

I agree so much.. Justice has been replaced with violence; romance replaced by soft-core (and silly) porn (think Jesse Spano in "Showgirls")..

I definitely agree about the sex, at least, as an adult, I do. I want to spend time with well written and performed characters, but what happens behind closed doors, I dunno, if you're into their spirits-sex just kind of perverts the whole thing. I know "sex is a miracle, beautiful" blah blah..but honestly..what if Tom Hanks was filmed banging Meryl Streep. Actually, who cares about that..that'd be a nightmare.

Mark Wahlberg is indeed a douchey faced man.

Will Smith's dumbass son..for now...maybe he'll shed that horrible image of being involved with the blasphemy of The Karate, excuse me KUNG FU Kid remake?

On TV too. Ever since some bright spark figured out that an actor can hold projectile in his mouth & then hurl it out, it's become the most over-worked trope ever.

Dogs/Cats being hurt/killed, that was by far the most disturbing part of Dogtooth for me, couldn't get though Amores Perros with all the dogfighting stuff.
"Dogtooth" was disturbing in many ways.

Provided of course that they fit the theme/style of the film they're in, these are elements that I enjoy seeing in films.

Kids with snot bubbling out of their noses. Makes me vomit
Kids and big kids picking their nose and eating it. Ditto
Anything to do with poo - as above
Ear picking, ball scratching, arse poking then sniffing - all of the above.

I like the fact that people seem to recognize the fact that Jaden Smith always has the same confused, raised-eyebrow, perplexed look on his face!

Naww he cant act but c'mon, that's a bit unfair. He copped an absolute flogging on imdb, especially from one fool who thought he was being 'loving' by posting an open letter to him on the board of that crappy nothing movie about scientology his father and shyamalamadingdong made. I gave the turd a serve and 2 years later he found me on an unrelated board and told me he was from isis and was going to cut my head off.
He's a sweet looking young guy with a (weird) clothing range so I dont think he'll be short for a dollar any time soon. It's not his fault his satelitte disc eared father shoved him into a crap movie.

Welcome to the human race...
He's alright in The Get Down, but there it helps that he's part of an ensemble instead of being the lead.

I guess that's another thing I'd like to see less of - actors having to play boring lead roles when they are better at playing interesting supporting roles.

Hey, I was hoping for some jocularity about my comment re: his bat eared dad.
I actully quite like that family but my impression was ruined when someone pointed out a video will made of his disgustingly obscene display of wealth with some enormafracking winnebago hotel on wheels he bought. I had work mates who were taken out to dinner by him when he was in my fair city and they said he was really down to earth. That seems to have disppeared/

Do you totally avoid a great movie because of something, or avert your eyes? There's a few things that make me feel awful, but many of them are great movies.

The Battle of Algiers
is the perfect example. Guaranteed tears, but it's so great. One of my favorite movies...

I'm against censorship, but I'd hope they'd have discretion for the quality of the movie... After the Hays Code in the mid-60's, a lot of movies put things in just because it was legal. (Before in the US, all couples slept in separate beds, just like today, lol).. Sometimes nudity is necessary, sometimes it's just to get a rise.
