This year is a blind spot for me for some reason. This is all I got:

Magma - Attahk
Ryuichi Sakamoto - Thousand Knives of Ryuichi Sakamoto
The Police - Outlandos d'Amour
The Rutles - The Rutles
U.K. - U.K.
Van Halen - Van Halen

The Doobies' Minute By Minute really is a solid record though.

Ones I cherish:

"War of the Worlds" - Jeff Wayne
My favorite album of 1978. A wonderful musical journey through that science fiction classic. Along with some great input from the musicians of that era.

" Pyramid" - The Alan Parsons Project
My second favorite of theirs after "Tales and Imagination of EAP." Loved the flow of the songs on the album. Some say Alan over produces, I say rubbish.

"Motor Booty Affair" - Parliament
My favorite from them and not just because of its fantastic album cover. Back in the day I had the album with the pop-up rendition of the lost city of Atlantis. Like above, the flow of the tunes is magical.

"Molly Hatchet" - Molly Hatchet

Great debut, but for me but did little after. But their mark had been made with songs like "Gator Country" and " Bounty Hunter". Plus a nice rendition of the Allman Bros "Dreams I'll Never See". Some say they're a clone of early Lynyrd Skynyrd, so what. Just can't get enough of that gritty sound.

" Inner Secrets" - Santana

My second favorite of his vast collection after "Santana & Buddy Miles Live". This one changed the direction of their sound to somewhat more jazzy undertones. Fans were not too happy, I welcomed it. "Open Invitation" is a ball buster where their rendition of "Stormy" is a nice complement.

"Zappa Live in New York" - Frank Zappa

Frank is my favorite performer...ever! So not surprising that this is my favorite live album ever. A gut punch of styles and rhytms. The concert was taped in '76 but released later. A fun blast through the artistry of the master. I mean, it has songs like "Punky's Whips" and "The Illinois Enema Bandit". You can't beat that.

" The Rutles" - The Rutles
Funny as hell parody album from Month Python's Eric Idle. This is the soundtrack to a wonderful mockumentary, second only to "This is Spinal Tap".
