Marilyn Monroe did 23 films in the 50's
Christopher Lee did 43 films in the 60's
Donald Pleasence did 46 films in the 70's
John Goodman did 33 in the 00's
Bruce Willis did 24 films in the 20's and retired in 2023

Rookie numbers. Eric Roberts has 227 titles to his name halfway through 2020s!

That's what I meant. So many major roles in one decade. Things were different under the studio system

Burt Lancaster is probably the star who chose the best great movies.. The Swimmer, Birdman of Alcatraz, Elmer Gantry, The Profesisonals, Come Back Little Sheba, etc.

Love The Swimmer…what a heartbreaker

What's impressive with Burt Lancaster is that he started out as a big star and continued to star in the movies he made almost until the very end of his film career. Only a few movie stars of the golden age started at the top, most like Bogart had to labor for years in thankless 'b' movies and only with a stroke of luck did they ever make it to leading actor status.

I saw it three times in two days!

I have never seen The Swimmer.
