This might just do nobody any good.
Oh man, I don't actually like the BP winners from the 90s. Just for the hell of it, I'll name movies I think should have won from the same year as the movies listed.

1. Schindler's List
2. Unforgiven
3. The English Patient
4. The Silence of the Lambs
5. Braveheart
6. Dances with Wolves (Goodfellas)
7. Uh... American Beauty? (Being John Malkovich)
8. Titanic, I guess (L.A. Confidential)
9. Forrest Gump, which is crap (Pulp Fiction... or Quiz Show)

Haven't seen Shakespeare in Love but I have t heard great things about it, so...

1.) Titanic
2.) Dances with Wolves
3.) Forrest Gump
4.) The Silence of the Lambs
5.) American Beauty
6.) Unforgiven
7.) Braveheart
8.) Shakespeare in Love
9.) Schindler's List
10.) The English Patient

I think they all are amazing films other than shakespeare in love which I only consider moderately good. how do you feel about these films I am interested in seeing others rankings here is my own list. please remember just because a film finishes in the bottom half of this list doesn't mean I think it sucked.....they are all very good besides Shakespeare which IMO is on a lower level then the rest.

1. forrest gump
2. titanic
3. braveheart
4. American beauty
5. dances with wolves
6. silence of the lambs
7. shindlers list
8. the English patient
9. unforgiven
10. Shakespeare in love
Looking at this list reminded me of how little I liked a lot of the Best Picture Oscar winners of this decade...Shakespeare in Love is definitely #10.

I'm with Holden in thinking that Unforgiven, Silence of the Lambs, and Schindler's List are the only real stand-outs and that the rest kind of blur together.

Unpopular opinion: Saving Private Ryan isn't the prestige WW2 movie of '98 that deserved the Oscar.

It's good. Great at times but, c'mon, The Thin Red Line.

1- American Beauty - Superb movie.
2- Silence Of The Lambs
3- Schindler's List
4- Unforgiven
5- Dances with Wolves
6- Braveheart
7- Forrest Gump
8- Eight tons of trash
9- Titanic

Didn't see The English Patient and Shakespeare in Love.

Am I the only person who actually liked Shakespeare in Love? This thread is making me want to watch it again.
You may be, just like I am the only Gump fan.

haha. There has been alot of backlash against Gump but it is still very loved, i myself like it just alot less than i used to. Think i watched it too many times when i was younger.

Not heard too many good words about Shakespeare In Love though. Not watched it yet.

You guys are speaking my language.

Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, & King Hereafter
Of the ones I've seen (and mostly going on memory alone):

1. Schindler's List
2. Silence of the Lambs
3. Unforgiven
4. Forrest Gump
5. Braveheart
6. Shakespeare in Love
7. Titanic

The top four are fantastic, the next two are great but honestly not BP worthy imo, and Titanic...well, it was great on a technical scale, but nothing else.

I'm one of the few people who was bored to death by Saving Private Ryan...come to think of it, Shakespeare in Love was a snooze fest too.
