I like many movies of this decade, but here are some films from the 2010s that I loved and TRULY consider to be (new) favorites:

Toy Story 3 (2010)
Black Swan (2010)
Submarine (2010)
The Artist (2011)
Midnight in Paris (2011)

The Descendants (2011)
Rango (2011)
From Up On Poppy Hill (2011)
The Master (2012)
Django Unchained (2012)

Moonrise Kingdom (2012)
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Gravity (2013)

The Great Beauty (2013)
American Hustle (2013)
Escape from Tomorrow (2013)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

The ones in italic are in my top 100 favorite films of all time. Two of them really pop out for me, though:

Tarantino's Django Unchained was an instant favorite after I watched it for the first time and still holds up well after a few rewatches. It's entertaining as hell and also has some of Tarantino's best dialogues and stylized moments in it. I must've mentioned it a billion times already on this forum, but I also think that DiCaprio's character, Calvin Candie, is one of the most memorable movie villains in quite some time.

Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master, I really liked after the first time I saw it, but it's probably the film of the 2010s that I've rewatched the most and it only gets better and better and it has now reached a point that I consider it the best film of the decade so far (from what I've seen, naturally). It's remarkably executed and explores its themes in a fantastic and extremely effective way. On top of that it also features one of my favorite 'bonds' between two characters ever. Phoenix' Freddie Quell and Hoffman's Lancaster Dodd have unbelievable chemistry together.

Ghouls, vampires, werewolves... let's party.
There haven't been too many movies I liked of recent releases, although there have been a few.

Buried
Monsters
Never Let Me Go
Toy Story 3
Kung Fu Panda 2
The Way
The Grey

Black Swan
Django Unchained
Shutter Island
Inception
Wolf of Wall Street (yes I love Leonardo)

From the top of my head; there are so much more great movies of the 2010s.

Oh, I really really did not like Gravity. It was so boring, even if it lasted to short. I see it getting a good reception here but I can't seem to like it. Same goes for 12 years a slave.

Black Swan would be my favorite, but I don't think I'd consider it the "greatest." For me it's a toss-up between The Master and 12 Years a Slave.

Also probably not 'the best' but my choices would be:
  • Ted (laughed like I haven't in years)
  • Moonrise Kingdom (quirky, beautiful)
  • The Conjuring (really decent horror flick)

** Reserving a place for American Hustle because I want to love it after I get around to seeing it.

^if you think like that you'll end up being disappointed.

I hate it when I watch a movie with such high expectations and thinking to myself; damn THIS is gonna be one of my faves soon. And then at the end you come to think: ... this is it?

1. 12 Years a Slave
2. Gravity
3. The Dark Knight Rises
4. Rise of the Planet of the Apes
5. Mud

2011 was an amazing year for foreign art film. i'd probably call 2012 the best for american cinema (and i wasn't a fan of either zero dark thirty or django unchained, so that should tell you something).

Kudos for 13 assassins. Don't hear that movie mentioned so much with people I know, but it's definitely one of my favourites in recent times.
I'll need to check out Poetry as haven't heard of that before.

I'd throw in The Flowers Of war
, a great film I had never heard about but stumbled over accidentally.
