check out my list of 1998 favorites do you have any of the same films as your faves from 98 and is there any on my list that you feel are not good at all?

The Celebration is easily one of my favorite films of all time, which is reason enough to like 1998. Saving Private Ryan comes in at a somewhat distant second to it for the year.

This is my top 10 of 1998
1) American History X
2) A Simple Plan
3) The Big Lebowski
4) Return to Paradise
5) Deep Impact
6) Elizabeth*
7) Clay Pigeons
8) The Horse Whisperer
9) Ronin
10) There's Something About Mary

We agree on 5 of them. I liked, but not loved your other 5 picks. I think it was a very weak year overall.

My personal top 10:

1. Out of Sight

2. Celebrity

3. The Big Lebowski

4. A Bug’s Life
5. Rushmore
6. Mulan
7. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
8. Happiness
9. The Truman Show
10. American History X

I must note that I haven't seen some of the more acclaimed films of 1998 yet (like Pleasantville, Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, Pi, Dark City, Festen, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, etc.), but overall it seems like a very solid movie year.

Ghouls, vampires, werewolves... let's party.
I actually had to go to a list of movies released in 1998 on the imdb website. I am surprised to find just how many movies there were that year that I had watched and had forgotten.

Here are my top ten:

There's Something About Mary
Deep Impact
The Man in the Iron Mask
Urban Legend
Lethal Weapon 4
U.S. Marshals
A Perfect Murder
Hard Rain
Small Soldiers
Halloween H20

Like strolling down memory lane.

I have to add a few more, favorites of mine from that glorious year:

Dark City
The Truman Show
Saving Private Ryan
Babe

and then there was Mighty Joe Young.

Not a great year for film, I gotta say, but there were some good ones.
This would be my top ten of the year:

1. The Big Lebowski
2. Clay Pigeons
3. Return to Paradise
4. Gods and Monsters
5. Dark City
6. American History X
7. The Negotiator
8. The Man in the Iron Mask
9. Ever After: A Cinderella Story
10. The Truman Show

Some of my favorites from that year:

The Truman Show
Big Lebowski
Central Station
Saving Private Ryan
Dark City

Though I guess the best thing made in 1998 that I have watched is Trigun.

Here are my 10 favorite:
1.) Out of Sight
2.) Truman Show
3.) The Big Lebowski
4.) Saving Private Ryan (joke it didn't win the Oscar)
5.) The Waterboy
6.) Enemy of The State
7.) Rush Hour
8.) The Negotiator
9.) Half Baked
10.) U.S. Marshals (while not as good as the first, still pretty good effort for a sequel)

Even though it's a matter of opinion I really do love your top ten. American history X is an awesome movie and seriously inspired me. Didn't care much for the ending though.
