I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Oh and since I know you love musicals, Miss Vicky...

West Side Story
Oliver!
The Sound of Music
My Fair Lady
Mary Poppins

Do you know anything about Miss Vicky?
Yeah a few of these recs I'm looking at like "Uh, yeah... I don't know about that." But the thread will be a good reference for others to use when compiling their watchlists so it's all good.

Oh and since I know you love musicals, Miss Vicky...
I actually liked My Fair Lady when I watched it several years ago. I ended up buying the DVD shortly afterwards... and haven't watched it since.

I hate Mary Poppins.

For MV: The Angry Silence, BUtterfield 8, Eyes Without a Face (Les yeux sans visage), Peeping Tom, Psycho, Purple Noon (Plein Soleil), The Children's Hour, The Innocents, Victim, The Manchurian Candidate, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, The Haunting, The Servant. Seven Up!. Zulu, The 10th Victim (La decima vittima), Life at the Top, A Patch of Blue, Ten Little Indians, The War Game, Belle de jour, In the Heat of the Night, Wait Until Dark, Barbarella ,The Boston Strangler, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, If...., The Lion in Winter, The Odd Couple, Kes.

I know you don't care for horror, but the horrors are more psychological horrors. There's nothing 'horrible' here.

Lots of good recommendations I won't repeat any of them, but I notice a distinct lack of Fellini in this thread: La Dolce Vita (1960) and 8 1/2 (1963) are both must watches in my opinion. Fellini certainly divides opinion, but any overview of this 60s has to include him.

I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
That's a really interesting list, Pussy Galore, I've added a couple to my watchlist from that.

Army of Shadows which is on Pussy's list is a really excellent film, I'd strongly recommend it.

Not seen La Dolce Vita but it's high on my watchlist, but I definitely agree with this post. It's a shame that so many people on here don't seem to appreciate Fellini, even the art house lovers who you'd normally expect too

I actually rewatched La Dolce Vita last night , absolutely gorgeous film. 8 1/2 will undoubtedly make my 60s list whenever that rolls around and Dolce Vita will certainly be a major contender also. I've seen 'self indulgent' and 'pretentious' used a lot in describing both him and his work. While he has a fairly strong sense of the grandiose a lot of the time I can't say I've ever thought of his work in such a way - one wonders if such criticisms come from individuals who were merely frustrated by 8 1/2 and haven't seen any of his other films.

I hated La Dolce Vita so much I didn't watch another Fellini film for years. Then I watched Amarcord, which was good, and will hopefully show up in the 70s countdown.

You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.
I went through some more DVDs today that I couldn't get to last night, and these are some more 60s movies to consider:

Take Her, She's Mine (1963)
The Man Called Flintstone (1966)
Mad Monster Party? (1967)
The Parent Trap (1961)
The Happiest Millionaire (1967)
The Ugly Dachshund (1966)
The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit (1968)
Flipper (1963)
McHale's Navy (1964)
The Wackiest Ship in the Army (1960)
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963)

Cleopatra (1963)
Doctor Zhivago (1965)
Romeo and Juliet (1968)

Camelot (1967)
Hello, Dolly! (1969)
Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967)
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1966)
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (1967)
80 Steps to Jonah (1969)

The Incredible Mr. Limpet (1964)
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966)
The Reluctant Astronaut (1967)
The Shakiest Gun in the West (1968)

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961)
Countdown (1967)

Bullitt (1968)
The Thomas Crown Affair (1968)
Our Man Flint (1966)
In Like Flint (1967)
The President's Analyst (1967)

Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round (1966) - This is not one of my favorite movies, but it's worth seeing just for the tiny walk-on of Harrison Ford before he was famous.

And don't forget, the 1960s also had a bunch of Elvis Presley movies, The Beatles movies, Jerry Lewis movies, Bob Hope movies, and James Bond movies.
There not my favorites, but maybe they'll be on your lists.

You should watch this if you can find it.

I Start Counting (1969)

It's a really beautiful movie staring Genny Agutter, the girl from Walkabout and Logan's Run. She really makes the movie since it's so character driven.

Chappie doesn't like the real world
I've skimmed through this thread and I didn't see anybody mention The Children's Hour. It's a really good movie and a very different type of role for Audrey Hepburn. Also has Shirley MacLaine and James Garner so

Of course I'm going to recommend In Cold Blood and Midnight Cowboy.

I never really though about it, but I think the 60's may be my favorite decade for movies. It's going to be tough getting a list down to 25.
