I'm glad you guys are doing recommendations here in this thread, instead of making another thread. That way this thread will keep getting bumped and people can see it more readily. I swear every countdown someone will say they never knew about it. So yeah the more activity here the better

...If anyone has any recommendations, particularly in psychological or supernatural horror films, feel free to tag or message me. I already have a ton of films I'd like to rewatch/finally check out, but I'm sure there are plenty of amazing horror films out there I haven't even heard of.
So I know you already seen The Innocents (1961) for the 17th HoF. Have you seen Carnival of Souls (1962), The Haunting (1963), The Changeling (1980), The Shining (1980), The Uninvited (1944), The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945) I never seen that one but everyone says it real good. Winchester (2018) but I don't think anyone liked that one, but it is supernatural. The Blair With Project (1999) I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I thought it was very effective and original. That's all I can think of right now.

Since most of the recommendations in here so far are more underrated or underseen ones from people who already love horror...

Funny to see Funny Games counted... I always thought I was alone considering that a kind of unconventional horror.

Thanks for reminding me about The Innocents since I was going to watch the other versions of that movie too. I really like the '61 film, so if the others are even remotely similar, they'll probably be worth the time.

I haven't seen Carnival of Souls and I don't think I've seen Dorian Gray, but I've seen the others. I definitely need to rewatch The Changeling though, since I don't remember that much about it, and I've been wanting to rewatch The Haunting since I finished the The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. Definitely not rewatching the 1999 version though.

Winchester (2018) but I don't think anyone liked that one, but it is supernatural. The Blair With Project (1999) I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I thought it was very effective and original. That's all I can think of right now.
I have seen Winchester. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it wasn't really that good either. It was okay, I guess. I never did watch The Blair Witch Project, but I've seen it referenced in pop culture so much that I feel like I have watched it haha.

That book should have mentioned

Deep Red (1975), probably

@Camo would have voted for it.

This should be a lot of fun. I could easily do a list of old school horrors but I think I'll waitto be sure I have a list I'm truly happy with.
THANKS Nostro for doing this and the write up really sold me. Excellent breakdown!

And yes, a HoF or two SHOULD be done for this.

Weird is relative.
I'm not really a "horror movie person," but I've definitely seen some good ones and there are many more I want to watch, so I plan to participate in this. I'll take a couple months to view some that I might end up nominating.
