The BAFTAS

A disgrace.

Margot Robbie nominated twice in the same category? And for 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' where she barely has any screen time? That's just pure insulting.

Where is the nomination for Lupita Nyong'o? Kristín Þóra Haraldsdóttir? Crystal Lee? Tao Zhao?

Neither Willem Dafoe or Robert Pattinson nominated? No cinematography nomination for 'Monos'?

These UK and USA awards enrage me more each year. Beyond pathetic.

Just ignore them like I do
(I'll still randomly enter picks for the Oscars contest on here though )

People have won Oscars for less.

It looks like 1917 will be taking the top prizes and then some. I see it winning Best Picture, Director, and the special effects awards: Sound and Visual Effects.

It also looks like 1917 will be doing the same at the Oscars.

Welcome to the human race...
It's already getting the #BAFTAsSoWhite treatment - also worth noting that Johansson has two noms as well. You kind of wonder if the categories look this way because there's already a consensus pick and so there's no need to actually pick other nominees that seem like legit competition.

I kind of wonder how much bias the BAFTAs has towards rewarding actual British talent and productions and whether or not that may sway things, though I guess they do have a separate category for "Best British Film". Given that they did award Roma Best Film last year, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Parasite wins Best Film as well.

Jessie Buckley is up for best actress, so I'm going to say - alot of bias. Although I haven't seen that film so maybe it actually is one of the best performances of the year.

These are listed in another thread, but since ScarletLion made a new thread here are the nominees, winners to be announced February 2nd...
