Directors usually choose to keep their original aspect ratios on DVD.
Some, like Wes Anderson usually have very thin ratios (2.40:1, 2.35:1) while some like Stanley Kubrick originally filmed in Fullscreen (4:3).
Personally I prefer a straight 16:9.
What do you guys like?

The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence."
