1) I met Martin Short backstage after a performance of The Goodbye Girl on Broadway.

2) Julia Roberts and Jason Patric were at O'Hare airport several years ago. They bought coffee and stood in line in front of me at the information counter for a flight to New York.

3) I've met and hung out with Jeff Gordon and his wife Brooke several times.

4) I saw Stallone at the Russian Tea Room, but couldn't get close enough for a really good look.

5) Saw Bruce Willis, Chris Farley (a few weeks before his death), Sandra Bullock, and Jean Claude Van Damme at the Indianapolis opening for Planet Hollywood...which by the way shut down about 9 months ago..

6) Met David Justice (he was one of the Braves at the time) and Dion Sanders (he was one of the Reds at the time) at a baseball game in Cincinatti.

7) Saw Sally Field at the Dallas airport in October.

8) Talked to Chuck Norris at martial arts exhibitions.

9) Saw Tom Hanks, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell, and Penny Marshall at the shooting of A League of Their Own a few miles south of where I live.

10) Saw Vice President Al Gore get into a limo outside of The Naitonal Archives building in Washington, D.C. about 6 years ago.

11) Saw Jack Nicholson, Goldie Hawn, and Kurt Russell in Vail, CO when I went on a skiing trip.

12) Saw Melannie Griffith and Ed Harris filming Milk Money in Cincinatti.

13) Saw Paul Newman, Tom Cruise, and Jay Leno from a distance a couple of years ago at the Brickyard 400.

That's all I can remember.

I've gotten really lucky whenever I travel. I don't recall a time where I went somewhere and didn't see somebody. It's a family joke now..."Who ya going to see this time?" kind of thing.

I was at my grandma's 80th birthday party(yes, she is still alive and well) at the Four Seasons in Chicago and a few tables away from us was Eric LaSalle and George Clooney from ER. Later on I went to the bathroom and got situated in my urinal of choice and i look up and guess who is in the urinal next to me!?! Eric LaSalle.

Ok, my little contribution to the list!

I was a volunteer at the Sydney Olympic Games, so I got to see a couple of people, mostly atheletes...here goes:

- I met the whole Team USA before the opening ceremony. I also saw Martina Hingis, Monica Seles and talked to Lindsey Davenport (she's REALLY tall!) I also met Ian Thorpe (young Aussie swimmer, broke a hell of a lot of records).

- Also during the Olympics, I got a picture with Michael Johnnson at Planet Hollywood for his birthday celebration!

- Met Alexander Karelin, Russian wrestler, never defeated in his career, nine times world champion, twelve times European champion and three Olympic Golds...of course lost for the first time to a US wrestler at these Olympics (I was there of course)

- Met those four guys from the USA team who won the 4 x 100 relay (you remember, the guys who were showing off , got to wear the gold medal!!

- Got a pictre with Chelsea Clinton in front of the VIP lounge at the Gymnastics (she was surprisingly friendly)!

- Showed Bill Gates where the bathroom was!

- Finally, Juan Antonio Samaranch walked in front of me while I was trying to take a picture, by the time my camera refocused on him I got a pic of the back of his head!!

Well, that's all I can remember for now!

I got Gabrielle Carteris's autograph.

Female assassin extraordinaire.
update to my little list ... aww, how the memories come back!

when i was in singapore, we had some presidential academic award in 1980-something and George Bush came to Singapore American School (the only american school in the country at the time) and handed out our awards.

and, i don't know how i forgot this, but Kerry Strugg (sp?), gymnast extraordinaire, also goes to Stanford and my first year going to school here i started working at my local dining hall. she lived in the same set of dorms and so came through the dining hall often and i often rang her up. very high pitched voice and very short! then, didn't see her at all really for the next few years but this quarter (the quarter i'm graduating, sheez) she's in one of my classes and has started showing up at the dining hall sometimes ... she often comes through with this girl who looks sorta like her, a little taller, maybe her cousin or sister or something, i think i heard she had a relative going here.

then ... chelsea clinton! now, like i think i said before, i only saw her and her parents at our convocation when we first started school, but since then, i've heard bits about people seeing her around campus and stuff. was at the hair salon this past weekend and my hair dresser said chelsea came in and bought some hair products - she rung her up, saw her credit card and everything, and the woman remembered to the last detail the price and items that chelsea bought!

AND -

our men's basketball team (stanford) is currently the national best and also comes through our dining hall ... heheh, and so does the girls basketball and volleyball teams, and the football team. they come in after hours so we stay open just for them and i'm the only person there to ring them up so i get to enjoy the male teams (by view) and flirt a bit. very fun. i'm not into sports much so i don't even know most of these men's names, but they're all very cute, very sweet, and very silly.

stanford tends to get a lot of celebrities coming in/out, but i'm so lazy i never go to see them when they come for talks. my very first year, drew barrymore came and i didn't go. martin scorcesi came last year and i didn't go. bill gates has a building here he donated money to be built (and named after him) and came for that, and i didn't go. lots of stuff like that. that girl from dharma and greg came to give a talk on scientology, but i didn't go. obviously i'm not crying that i missed bill gates but i have regretted not going to see these folks. i think mainly i don't want to go cause everybody else would and it's that whole drool over the start thing and i'd rather meet them the way you've met them laurie - up close and personal!

Latest Movie Review(s): Too lazy to keep this up to date. New reviews every week.

Mira Sorvino speaks a few languages I believe - at least 2, but I could've sworn she spoke three. I think it's tough work to play someone stupid, so you need intelligent people to do so.

Intelligent people know how facial expressions and such work - it's almost like a sixth sense.

Jodie Foster is fluent in 9 languages. She told Larry King a few months back that anytime she shoots a film in a foreign country she learns the language in three weeks before filming starts. She also said she memorizes a script and never looks at it again throughout the making of the film.

I've got an update to my prior list. I went to Tucson this weekend. I got to the hotel early and had to wait three hours for a room. I waited in the lobby and noticed all these guys with guitar cases come in and sit down. They were talking about how it had been too cold to play the night before and that they were looking forward to getting back to L.A. After awhile I got up, went to the front desk to see if my room was ready, and saw Coolio come off the elevator. He stood right next to me and signed a photo for the hotel. Then he looked at me, probably waiting for me to ask for an autograph, but instead I said Hi. He said Hi, smiled, and went outside. He was so calm and quiet that I was kind of startled. I'm not really sure what I expected him to be like, but the whole time I was watching him, I kept waiting for him to break out into a rap or something...lol.

Cool, you saw Coolio !!

I used to do movie reviews and as a result, I got to meet some pretty kick *** people.

All of the following are people that I met at the Toronto Film Festival.

Tom Cruse - Very nice, even signed an autograph for me when they were allowed.

Dan Aykrod - My idol! He was nice enough to chat with me about a possible Ghostbusters 3, which now looks to be not happening

Danny Glover

Jennifer Lopez - After getting chased out of the Antz press conference by some psycho press lady that was trying to yell at me for getting Aykroyds autograph I bolted to a back staircase to get out of the hotel I was in. When I was going down Jennifer Lopez was being escorted by her security. She looked at me...said "hello there" I almost lost it! I said Hello back to her and then she left...ahh.

Danny Glover
Christopher Walkin
Toby Maguire
Jeff Daniels

I was also able to meet James Cameron in Niagara Falls when his hometown celebrated his Titanic success.

Who have you met?

Pierce Brosnan bought a shaved ice from our store. I think he was with his ice--the first one. This was before he made it big in the movies. When he was in this TV show called Remington Something.

I met Cary Tagawa in the airport in Los Angeles. He was really cool. He sat with us while waiting to board the plane. Talked to my son about making Mortal Kombat(Shang Tsung). He said he was working on a "BIG" project that we would know about in a few weeks (turned out to be Pearl Harbor). Really nice guy!

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
I have never met anyone famous, but we have had a lot of famous people come out of the area around my town. Lucy's friend on I Love Lucy, what's her name? Tom Mix, who was a silent movie star, and a pallbearer for Wyatt Earp. Bill Kurtis, who does a lot of shows on A&E. I can't think of anymore right now, but there are a few of celebs, or not.

I had a teacher in high school who literally ran into Muhammed Ali at an airport. Big guy she said.

Other than that I've never met anyone famous, I don't do much looking either when Im out and about in the big city. Plus, half the time a celeb disquises themselves up for no attention, but that's only with the ones that can't handle it.
