Songs That Would Make A Perfect Movie

Tools

Can anyone think of any songs/ LPs the know of that have enough open interpretation for a movie, or am i crazy?

Because correct me if i am wrong, but wouldn't Pink World by Tony Carey (the whole LP)make a freaking awesome movie.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Some songs/albums have already been turned into films (The Wall, Sgt. Pepper, "Yellow Submarine") for better or worse.

I think some recent Blitzen Trapper songs would make good movies.

I'm unsure if this is at all what you are looking for, but Morrissey's 'Everyday is Like Sunday' always reminds me of Local Hero, and vice versa.

I'm writing a screenplay for Diabolical Masquerade's Death's Design. It's a horror soundtrack for a movie that was never made and since the composer of the project is one of my favorite people I have to do it and if someone else takes the idea I will resort to murder and film it for the movie

Fascination, cant remember who does the song though....

All good people are asleep and dreaming.

That song always makes me think of the film Funny Bones.

Some of you may not have noticed the mom in the video is actress Billie Whitelaw.

Here she is on The Smiths album cover from the movie Charlie Bubbles.

Interesting question. Now there is a distinct genre of film that turns/adapts songs into film and that is, as mark f pointed out, the musical or--more recently--the pop musical. There is also this interesting concept of the "transformation" of a piece of music into film; i.e. a film with a plot and characters "emerging" from a plotless, wordless piece (or even that which has words or is a ballad). This is quite interesting, but I would first attempt some introductory stipulations to the idea of "songs into films" as a self-sustained, complete, almost alchemical process. This is precisely as to not simplify it to the point of mere "inspiration". The film itself--the story, the events and reality portrayed on frame--must be suggestive of the song and the song suggestive "equally" of the film for this to be a proper "sublimation" between mediums and not merely some sort of inclusive homage/tribute and/or the source of inspiration in either creative direction.

That being said, I'd love to see a film based off of Of Montreal's masterpiece Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?

I respect your intelligence, though you take a fun thread and turn it into a bunch of psychobabble.

I think this is an automatic hit for PIXAR, a script that practically writes itself...

"Muskrat Love" by
Captain & Tennille

And if not PIXAR, at least the basis for a good Porno for Furries.

Sorry Harmonica.......I got to stay here.
Allright, imagine this...
A scene where a middle-aged grandmother grabs back her granddaughter from the clutches of a powerful evil female villain. This song would be the car chase where she finally grabs back the kid, and escapes in a 69 Camaro with thugs chasing behind her. Jeff Beck's solo would be the slow motion mega-car-jump. Can you see it?

Tears for Fears - Mad World

I would want to see this song made into a movie, a sci-fi would be brilliant, or better still a horror.

Yeah. It's basically entirely associated with DD now.

The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table by Rick Wakeman
would be awesome, they already did a version on ice, which was fantastic.

Hmm.. Bohemian Rhapsody, since I love mind****s and I have no idea what the song is all about.

I always thought it was about a guy who danced with the devil (so to speak)... and lost... and is facing that reality right before he is to be executed...

I'm not an especially big fan of the band or the album, but I would be interested in seeing how a film adaptation of Green Day's American Idiot would turn out. They already did a stage musical, so why not a movie?
