Famous Murder Scenes

Currently I'am writing on a screenplay (based upon a short story of a
Belgian writer) and therefore I need a list of the most famous murder
scenes in movie history.

In the original short story there's already a list, but most of the
famous murder scenes in that list are not possible to put in the
screenplay I'am writing because if we ever make this movie we will
not have the budget to do what's been selected in the original short
story. We're living in Belgium and we don't have the budget to blow
up a Plymouth Fury for example just for one scene :-)

So I tought let's post a request here. Maybe we get some fresh
ideas with the input from the movieforum users.

What are your favorite murder scenes of all time ???
List as many as you want. The more input we get the better.
All kinds of genres can be in the list. Thriller,Mystery or real Horror,
but keep in mind that we're working low budget so expensive FX are
not possible. We can cheat a bit and make suggestions in a few scenes
but not in all of them. E.g : We can do something with a chainsaw,
make some fake blood splat on a wall and use some audio FX to create
a suggestion but we can't do that with every murder scene we want to
use. Some really must be shown without suggestions. It's important
that the viewer recognizes the original scene most of the times or at
least can make the link to the movie from where the original scene
comes. E g : The shower scene from Psycho is an option which can be
done with low budget. But we need more of those to complete the
screenplay.

Hope to get some input from all of you. Feel free to post your list
here or mail it directly to me.

Thanks in advance

The "gluttony" murder scene in Se7en.
Actually, pretty much four of the first five murder scenes in the movie for that matter if you exclude the "sloth" tourture where the victim was still alive.

Hello Salem, my name's Winifred. What's yours
I think it might depend on the kind of horror elements you're looking for. Gory? A surprise? Quick, methodical? Revenge killings? Revenge killings often go to the pattern of killing someone who wronged the killer in a very significant way, something very relevent to the story would play a part in their death. A surprise killing such as the scene in Scream 2 when Randy is pulled backwards into the van and slaughtered. Quick methodical murders aren't often found in 'slasher' flicks but more in crime films, for those look to Leon. Gory scenes are often done for the killers personal thrill, for these scenes look to the Hannibal Lectar film series. Hope that helps

Standing in the Sunlight, Laughing
The Little Foxes: Bette Davis withholds her husbands meds and he dies as she stands there listening to him breathe his last.

The Pope of Greenwich Village: lye in the coffee. Ouch.

Kill Bill has some spectacular ones, of course.

Pulp Fiction: Jules and Vincent kill Brett in the beginning. . .and end too. . .
Reservoir Dogs: Mexican Standoff
Reservoir Dogs: torture scenes, ok so he didn't get murdered, but the scene is famous.
Nightmare on Elm Street: Johnny Depp gets sucked through a bed.
Nightmare. . .: Freddy's got the girl gettin' cut up and she's flying around the room.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: in the original where the guy is killed w/ the hammer.

hehehe, that's the quintessential murder scene.

But Godfather 1 also has many memorable murder scenes, not too budget friendly though.
I suggest you rip off the pen stabbing scene from Casino
also, the murder scene from The Deer Hunter. oh yeah, you know which one.
The teeth crushing murder from American History X would be nice and easy.
Maybe even try the Chinatown murder, just hope your audience have seen it.

Which is fine, as Psycho isn't a horror film....

Twilight's Dawn's Avatar
Witch's Jewel
While we're on Hitchcock, I would say the scene in Dial M for Murder where Lesgate is strangling Margot and she...retaliates.

Hitchcock is a legend.. Mind you nowadays his films aren't really good for much more then a laugh.Tis a shame.
Do you mean because they are so 'tame' by today's standards?
