I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
Don't know of any movies made in 1982 that I think are great. Please someone correct me on this.

ET was 1982.

And actually, every movie is technically "from the '80s" since "the 80s" cover such a large period of time as to include years that weren't actually part of the '80s. I assume that means that movies that weren't actually from 1982 are technically part of 1982 (and if anybody points out that they aren't from 1982, they're being a picky b*tch).

Also really in 1982:

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (one of my favorites)
Poltergeist (Loved it at the time. Still like it)
Tootsie
The Toy (again, loved it at the time)
48 Hours (a classic, in my opinion)
Firefox (liked it at the time, seems stupid now)
Blade Runner
Ghandi (I've never seen this one for some reason)
The Evil Dead
Conan The Barbarian
The Thing (Or John Carpenter's The Thing as it is often known)
Sophie's Choice (never seen it)
An Officer and a Gentleman (never seen it)
The Verdict
Victor/Victoria
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
The World According to Garp (I have a love/hate thing with this movie)
Diner (Widely loved, though I've never seen it)
Tron (Loved it at the time, still like it)
Rocky III (never saw it)

And that's just a smattering of flicks actually from 1982.

But I suppose that some might think that none of those films constitutes anything "great".

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
Ok ok...I forgot about some of those movies being made in '82. Thanks for the list Ryan, I actually like a lot of those movies.

Spud '82 is a fabolous year in my opinion it produce my favorite film of all-time The Verdict so that right there consitues a great year.

other great to good films not mentioned are.......

Fast Times at Ridgemont High
which has Sean Penn outragously fun performance as Jeff Spicoli

Jeff Spicoli: This is U.S. History, I see the globe right there.

Jeff Spicoli: All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine

Jeff Spicoli: So what Jefferson was saying was "Hey! You know, we left this England place because it was bogus. So if we don't get some cool rules ourselves, pronto, we'll just be bogus too." Yeah?

Dark Crystal, The
brought to you by Jim Henson's production team with Frank Oz Co-directing it which he played and made the puppet for YODA and later went on to directed The Score featuring De Niro, Norton , Brando.

Year of Living Dangerously, The
While certainly not my fav Weir Directorial effort it's still great and has a nice cast intresting great story well writing and beautfully shot.

Cat People
This falls in the good category which is a remake of a classic horror movie by the same name. revamped and brought to todays settings with a creepy weirded out performance by A Clockwork Orange's McDowell. Paul Schrader directed it so your know it's going to come tight with the dialogue.

Night Shift
This movie has a cast of who's who that went on to do bigger and better things. silly slap stick fun.

Missing
just thinking about this film it gets better

Tenebre
Dario Argento's brightly lite Horror movie that impressed me with his visual sense and with his set-pieces and pace.

Class of 1984
it's not that great it's like an 80's Blackboard Jungle but doesn't even compare to it. with so explotive elemets and a very young Michael J Fox.

Still of the Night
I love this film but I know a lot of people think it's just passible in the Suspence Genre oh well too bad for them.

Q
Directed by B movie Supreme Cohen with some pretty cool special effects where this gaint winged creature goes around taring off peoples head and what not. chesse is severed up as the course meal.

Challenge, The
A spooky old Mansion that is haunted by a kid. well it scared the **** out of me but it really is minor compared to the films that have been mentioned already.

Thank you Sir Jeffries!
Very kind thing you did, completing my homework for me. I'm licking the end of my vintage #2 pencil and adding you to my will henceforth.

Darling everybodies,
I don't know what movies were made when I was born because I was just born. (Of coursae!) And so many of those movies you write about are all in your imagination anyway because -- the world didn't really exist until I was born. Everything B4 me was fanta-see. (Hee-hee) Si?
Love to all,
J

"I can't help it..."
1988

Ín a year for films that was starting to look utterly hopeless;
John McTiernan pulls DIE HARD out of his ***

I think my fave from '72 is The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean. The only other two I can think of are The Godfather and Deliverance

Don't worry Holden.
Disregard everything he says as a non-constructive and pointless post.

I was born in 1987, and I think the only movie I've ever even seen from '87 is The Princess Bride. Hmm. And that wouldn't be a favorite. What other films came out that year?
