I was on an E.T ride in Orlando when i was 6, at the start everyone was asked their names then E.T says goodbye Ryan or whatever your name is. My sister was all "how did he know my name" and then i went "we were asked it before we went in". Think i destroyed her childhood right there, even at six i was ruining childhoods
I probably would've forgotten they asked for my name. But then again, randomly being asked your name to go on a ride is a little suspicious.

I remember that ride. It was fine, but a step down after just riding Back to the Future the Ride.

Stalker was on my list, too, at fifteen. It doesn't move me as emotionally as Solaris, but it is a beautiful and haunting film with some of Tarkovky's most unshakeable images (which is saying a lot). "When a man thinks of the past, he becomes kinder."

MY LIST
2. Solaris (#23)
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (#27)
8. Moon (#29)
9. Her (#25)
11. Brazil (#32)
13. Invasion of the Body Snatchers [1956] (#46)

Miss Vicky's Loyal and Willing Slave
Well that's one miss from my top 28 prediction; didn't think Stalker was going to make it. So I'm thinking that The Force Awakens can't be making it. The other I'm slightly worried about is Total Recall. I was positive it would make the list but would not have predicted a top 20 place

For the first time it what feels like an age, today brought one from my list. I had the delightful E.T. at #11 on my list. It was a joy to watch as a child and it still is to this day. There's that old bible verse about putting away childish things when you become a man. And this can be true of movies. Many movies that you loved as a child just don't hold up when viewed as an adult. They're best to just be left in the past with your fond memories of them. Well E.T. is not one such film. It is not to be forgotten. It's a childish thing to be held onto and cherished.

My List
2. The Truman Show (#94)
10. Back to the Future Part II (#42)
11. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (#21)
12. Men in Black (#61)
14. Demolition Man (#68)
15. Independence Day (#40)
16. They Live (#45)
17. Guardians of the Galaxy (#77)
20. Galaxy Quest (#88)
22. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (#58)
25. Gattaca (#51)

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Stalker is probably my least favorite movie on this list, but I will continue to watch it because I do get more out of each time. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is my #17. One of my fave parts is when E.T. watches The Quiet Man while Elliott lets the frogs go free. The blonde Elliott kisses is Erika Eleniak.

My List

12. The Iron Giant (#50)
13. Altered States (#95)
14. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (#79)

Y'know, looking back, I can't believe Return of the Jedi wasn't on my list. Guess it didn't need my help, though.

E.T. was on my list, at #12. Pure nostalgia for a great flick. Nothing else to say.

You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was #1 on my list. It's the first movie that I can remember watching in the movie theater that I loved it so much that when it was over, I went right back in and watched it again. It was a favorite movie for me from the very first time I saw it, and it's still one of my all-time favorite movies today.

I haven't seen Stalker.

Seen: 64-1/2 out of 80
My list: 7 so far

1) E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
4) The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
6) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)

Woody Allen is a pedophille
I've said it before and I'll say it again, ET is just meh to me. I don't really understand what people love so much about it. To me it's just a kids movie, and an average one at best.

Nether of those made my list, of the two Stalker would have easily been the closest to the cut .... quite liked it. E.T. was ok for a first watch when I was younger but as the years have passed I've liked it less and less with each subsequent rewatch.

Faildictions:
20. A Clockwork Orange (1971)
19. A Scanner Darkly (2006)

ET isn't bad... it just suffers from Christmasitis.
Every damned year it's played on telly, every day from December 15th to Boxing Day.
Last year I clearly remember it being on two channels at the same time.

What? I never see E.T. on around Christmas time.

Aliens at Christmas? E.T.?!?!?!

Are you sure you're just not watching it non-stop around Christmas time? You know, like you do with Young Guns. You're lying to yourself about it being on every TV channel -- it's actually you watching it all day long, every day, for several days, on two TV's.

I know how obsessed you are with aliens.

Yes, I mentioned Young Guns again. It's here to stay. DEAL.
