Once again I blame the booze

Battle of Algiers is Italian although it's often mistakenly cited as being a joint Italian-Algerian production.

It was filmed in Algeria and used lots of Algerians as actors, but all the finance, studio, production and other creative input came from Italy.

Another poster above put The Kite Runner as being a movie from Afghanistan, but other than the movie being based on a book by an Afghani and it being set in Afghanistan, there was nothing about the production that would have it be credited as an Afghanistan or even a USA/Afghanistan film. None of it was even filmed in Afghanistan.

Indeed. A fact I pointed out in my review. But since the biggest stars were the native Algerians, I gave them some credit in this thread.

The language spoken in El Mariachi is Spanish, plus it was shot in Mexico so you could say it is a Mexican film. The director and the funding might have been from America but for most part the film is Mexican.
