Only remember a scene

From what I can remember, I think most of the movie takes place on a boat or on a train. One of the main characters, a dark haired young woman, is shot and killed while sleeping near the end of the movie.

1. How long ago did you see it?

2. Was the woman in bed?

They'll say "I don't care if he's a poet or cowboy, so long as he's a nice guy. But oh, I'm so attracted to that bad guy over there."
Understand this last part, and you'll get them all.

1. A cople of years ago I believe. Didn't see the beginning of it.

2.Yes. I think she wore a red dress, but not sure about that. Main reason for saying it was a boat or a train is the bedroom looked like a boats cabin or a train compartment. May have been a tiny hotel room though. There was also some drinking and romance, and from the vibe I can remember, I would have guessed it was supposed to be from the 1940's or before, but I'm pretty sure the gun that was used to kill her had a silencer, so guess not...

Silencers date back to 1902 or earlier. They were routinely used by spies during World War II (the 1940s).
So what we are looking for is a movie set about in the 1940s, but made in the 21st century, in which near the end a dark-haired woman is shot and killed by a gun with a silencer, while sleeping in a small bedroom where another person was present.
Anything else you can tell us?

Ah.. OK.

Yes. I might have the time setting somewhat wrong but thereabout. Maybe earlier. Nothing there that would hint at 1930's depression though. The lifestyle would certainly fit with the 1920's but not sure about the clothing.

Not really, no. I only saw the end.

She was pretty. There seemed to be lots of socializing at tables in fancy clothing while consuming lots of drinks and cigarettes. Kinda like what people with a certain income would do while traveling by boat or train around that time.

On second thought, though the small bedroom at the end MAY have been a train compartment, other scenes leading up to that showed room sizes and a number of people present in the same space that doesn't really fit within a train.
