My 100 Favorite Movies

Interesting list 88. I like lists that are very personal as opposed to ticking off the same films you always see. And because it's such a personal list there are a few on here I really can't stand (like This Is The End) but that's fine

It's clear to see you're a fellow Jim Carrey fan so I'm appreciating your love for several of his films. on Liar Liar and Ace Ventura but extra credit for recognising the brilliance of The Cable Guy.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Toy Story are big favourites for me. Was also a big fan of Small Soldiers back in the day; very underrated family flick. It's not all sunshine and roses though. I despised Hansel & Gretel; one of the worst films I've seen. I enjoy a good ol' disaster film and Day After Tomorrow is very enjoyable hokum that I've seen a bunch of times and frequently get caught up watching if it's ever on TV.

I've only seen Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles one time each and it was pretty much back-to-back several years ago. One of them I thought was just ok, the other I really liked. But I can't remember which is which. I think it was Pretty in Pink I really enjoyed but could be wrong. 21 Jump Street (and the sequel) was a big surprise for me. I'm not bothered about Channing Tatum, can't stand Jonah Hill and don't tend to like too many contemporary comedies...but I really enjoyed it. Very pleasant surprise

While there are some misses and a number of films I've not seen (mostly the horror ones) you've actually included my own personal top 3 - Lord of the Rings trilogy, Back to the Future and Truman Show. Other big favourites of mine that you've included are First Blood, Lethal Weapon and Saving Private Ryan. Oh and Heathers.
I'm glad you find my list interesting and thanks for the good criticism, I can't stand people like the ones you see on youtube when watch a top movies video that complain if their favorite movie is not on the list. it makes you want to say,"Well it's not you're list, so go make one."

#39

Mean Girls (2003)
The performances from Lohan and McAdams were good because they showed us how a new high school student can become attached with the wrong crowd while already making friends that were nice to you in the first place.

"I know it may look like I was being like a b***h, but that's only because I was acting like a b***h."

#38

The Other Guys (2010)

Mark Wahlberg and Will Farrell does a great job playing as silly a** clown cops that try to do the right thing but ending up messing things up. This is why I love buddy cop movies because we got two characters as cops that are doing insane things you wouldn't see in real life.

"I'm like a peacock, you gotta let me fly!"

#37

Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Zombie comedy movies are always fun and exciting to watch, just like this one. Imagine having such a silly plan to just hole up in one place and expect it to just blow over, but when your in a Zombie Apocalypse, those chances of that happening are very low.

"We take Pete's car, we drive over to Mum's, we go in, take care of Philip - "I'm so sorry, Philip" - then we grab Mum, we go over to Liz's place, hole up, have a cup of tea and wait for this whole thing to blow over."

#36

A Bronx Tale (1993)
A great tale about a father trying to raise his kid right and staying away from trouble especially when the kid is taken in control by neighborhood mobster Sonny.

"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent."

#35

Heat (1995)
Al Pacino plays the good cop and De Niro plays the bad guy, it's nice to see these two work together in a movie like this one.

"Cause she's got a great a**... and you got your head all the way up it! Ferocious, aren't I? When I think of a**es, a woman's a**, something comes out of me."

#34

Superbad (2007)
This was a cool comedy movie, at first when I saw this movie, I didn't seem to get much laughs, second time around, I laughed at some parts, I guess I was in the mood I guess.

“I am McLovin!”

#33

Easy A (2010)
A movie about how spreading bad rumors in high school can lead to bad things and when it backfires it turns really ugly. Emma Stone did a fine job with this movie.

"I might even lose my virginity to him. I don't know when it will happen. You know, maybe in five minutes, or tonight, or six months from now, or maybe on the night of our wedding. But the really amazing thing is, it is nobody's god damn business."

#32

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
I'd like to say this bond movie was a fun one to watch and every time the bond music goes off it makes me hum out the bond theme, which this happens sometimes when watching other bond movies. Also there's a few other bond movies that was a pleasure to watch.

"All those feathers and he still can't fly!"

#31

Jurassic World (2015)
Imo, the second best movie in the series and it was nice to see Chris Pratt as the lead in this film.

"These animals are thinking: I gotta eat. I gotta hunt. I gotta…You gotta be able to relate to at least one of those things."

#30

Jurassic Park (1993)
A movie that shows us a great adventure to the dinosaur world. Also imo, this movie has one of the best theme songs in all movies I've seen so far.

"Welcome to Jurassic Park."

"All those feathers and he still can't fly!"
I can actually hear him saying that . There's "What a helpful chap" as well.

Miss Vicky's Loyal and Willing Slave
Jurassic Park is one my my all-time favourites; always takes me back to being a kid. Easy A is a great little film and very underrated. And The Spy Who Loved Me is hugely enjoyable and I believe my favourite Bond film these days

Great list so far, so many gems! Excited to see what's to come.

#29

The Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire (2013)
It's safe to say that I actually enjoyed this movie and the other movies in the series as well which I'd like to make a special mention to for making the series exciting to watch. Jennifer Lawrence puts on an outstanding performance and shows us how these games can be so deadly and cruel.

"Katniss, when you're in the arena, remember who the real enemy is."

#28

Taxi Driver (1976)
A great dark film by Martin Scorsese and wonderful movie performance by Robert De Niro which he plays as a mentally unstable Vietnam War veteran that works as a night-time taxi driver in New York City.

"Loneliness has followed me my whole life, everywhere. In bars, in cars, sidewalks, stores, everywhere. There's no escape. I'm God's lonely man."

#27

Tropic Thunder (2008)
An interesting comedy war movie and like how they think there still shooting a movie but really are heading into real danger territory. Tom Cruise was funny in this movie as well, it was sorta hard to recognize him without hair and glasses and beard on.

" I know who I am. I'm the dude playin' the dude, disguised as another dude!"

#26

Step Brothers (2008)
A hilarious movie about two grown men that still live with their parents and stuck in their own childish world.

"It's the F**king Catalina Whine Mixer."

#25

Dumb and Dumber (1994)
One of the first comedies I have seen when I started watching movies and good performances by Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey for making the movie funny.

"Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!"

Miss Vicky's Loyal and Willing Slave
I was wondering/expecting/hoping that with all the love you've been throwing Carrey's way that Dumb & Dumber would appear at some point.

#24

Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1982)
What a great 80's high school movie this was with some laughs here and there. What I liked about this movie is it shows you how the life that these teens in high school go through and what they do outside of school also.

"Hey bud, let's party!"

#23

The Hangover (2009)
Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas and that's what pretty much happens when four men go on a rowdy adventure before one of them is getting married. This movie is a funny one too.

"Toodle-oo, mother f**kers."

#22

Billy Madison (1995)
One of Sandler's funniest movies imo and going back to school starting with elementary is just plain silly which I found it enjoyable to watch.

"You ain't cool, unless you pee your pants"

#21

Ted (2012)
A movie filled with laughter and not giving a s**t if it offends it's viewers, which I like when movies do this because it makes the movie more fun to watch. The plot is quite silly and having this creepy stalker kid wanting the talking teddy bear, it makes you want to say "go get your own f'n teddy bear, kid." The 2nd movie I'll give a special mention to since i thought it was a decent sequel, imo.

Thunder Buddy Song - "When you hear the sound of thunder, don't you get too scared. Just grab your thunder buddy and say these magic words: F**k you, thunder! You can suck my D**k! You can't get me, thunder, 'cause you're just God's farts."

#20

Wedding Crashers (2005)
A funny comedy about two men that likes to crash weddings and the movie does a good job showing why it's a bad idea to do this cruel behavior in real life.

"I hope you flip your bike over and knock your two front teeth out! You selfish son of a b**ch! You leave me in the trenches taking grenades, John!"

2022 Mofo Fantasy Football Champ
Hangover and Wedding Crashers are also high up for me, so I'm not alone. In reality Wedding Crashers is a top 10 film for me, screw the haters

Yea they were both great comedies and worthy enough to be high on a list imo.

#19

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
It seems like Marvel is on its roll on making their movies look amazing, just like this movie. My favorite character of the movie is Peter Quill because of character's backstory and the actor that plays him. The 2nd film I thought was pretty good also, not as good as the 1st film, imo..

"Let's get something clear! This one here is our booty. You wanna get to him, you go through us... or, more accurately, we go through you!"

#18

The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)
Another favorite action hero of mines, Jason Bourne the a** kicking machine that's got like two eyes in the back of his head when he's surround by bad guys and willing to take them out one by one. This movie and the whole series was a great pleasure to watch, despite that Jeremy Renner was in Legacy, I thought that movie was decent, not better than the other Bourne films though.

"This is Jason Bourne, the toughest target that you have ever tracked. He is really good at staying alive, and trying to kill him and failing... just pisses him off."

#17

Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
An exciting and humorous action movie with Eddie Murphy in it. The second movie was a delight to watch also. The third film I thought was alright.

"Disturbing the peace? I got thrown out of a window! What's the f**kin' charge for getting pushed out of a moving car, huh? Jaywalking?"

#16

The Godfather (1972)
This was such a cool mafia film and good acting from the cast of the movie. The thing I like about these movies that they show how dangerous it is to join a mafia and being the target of rival mafia families and if you're not careful enough you may get whacked at the wrong place and the wrong time. I also liked the sequel as well, not as good as the first one though.

"You talk about vengeance. Is vengeance going to bring your son back to you? Or my boy to me?"

#15

Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Being a superhero can be a good thing, but there's always going to be some consequences along the way and this movie does a good job showing us why being a superhero is a hard thing to do. I also liked the first movie as well.

"There's a hero in all of us"

Releasing only 4 for tomorrow and after 10-1 will be entries of two movies.

Spy who loved me is my favorite bond movie.
Mines too so far and Casino Royale as well

Miss Vicky's Loyal and Willing Slave
Great set of flicks. As you can perhaps tell from my avi I love Guardians of the Galaxy. Am also a huge fan of the Bourne films and agree that Ultimatum is the best. Though it was Jeremy Renner in Legacy, not Daniel Craig. And Spider-Man 2 rocks! There have been so many superhero films released since 2004 (dozens and dozens and dozens) that I think people tend to forget about it a little these days but it's still one of the very best films of the genre; same with X-Men 2.

Thanks for the correction and fixed it. lol that's who I meant I don't know what got me to think Daniel Craig played in Legacy . I wasn't really a big fan of the X Men movies really, more of a Spider man fan back in those times when Marvel started to make their movies.

#14

Deadpool (2016)
Deadpool, the foul mouthed mercenary that brings alot of humor with him when he's fighting bad guys, better yet breaking the fourth wall to tell the audience on what his character is all about. Ryan Reynolds does good playing as Deal pool and one of Marvel's best movies yet, imo.

"If I ever decide to become a crime-fighting s**t swizzler who rooms with a bunch of other little whiners at Neverland Mansion with some creepy, old, bald, Heaven’s Gate-looking motherf**ker…on that day, I’ll send your shiny, happy a** a friend request."

#13

The Terminator (1984)
One of my favorite action movies of all time and an interesting one also. Arnold plays the role of a cyborg killing machine on this mission to kill this innocent lady named Sarah Connor, which I found her character likable and hoping that she survives this robotic gun killing maniac.

"Listen, and understand! That Terminator is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are dead!"

#12

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
An awesome action packed sequel that gives you a different story of the terminator which in this one Arnold plays the good guy and must protect John and Sarah from this more advanced and powerful cyborg trying to kill John Connor.

"Hasta la vista, baby."

#11

The Departed (2006)
First, I got to say having Wahlberg and Damon in the same movie is just awesome. This movie is more like the police going against this organized mob and finding out as the movie goes on that there is a rat in the police department secretly helping out the mob, which they must find out and stop before more s**t hits the fan.

"When you decide to be something, you can be it. That's what they don't tell you in the church. When I was your age they would say we can become cops, or criminals. Today, what I'm saying to you is this: when you're facing a loaded gun, what's the difference?"

Out of the 90 films this far there's only two I'd consider for my top-100 (Taxi Driver and Terminator) plus maybe couple I'd need to rewatch to ensure as I've seen them last when I was a kid. Obvious reason for such a small overlap is the fact that there's probably more comedies on your list than I've seen in last ten years Interesting list none the less and I'm intrigued by your top-10.
