Picking up at the end of this thread, Spider would quite probably be sitting in my top 20.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but Sight and Sound posted a list of the decades best, in alphabetical order:

Adaptation
Battle in Heaven
The Beat the My Heart Skipped
The Bourne Ultimatum
Colossal Youth
The Death of Mr Lazarescu
Eloge De l'Amour
The Five Obstructions
The Gleaners and I
Hidden
INLAND EMPIRE
In the Mood For Love
Memories of Murder
La Nina Santa
A One and a Two...
Platform
Russian Ark
The Son
Spirited Away
Talk to Her
10
There Will Be Blood
35 Shots of Rum
Touching the Void
Tropical Malady
Until Red Army
Uzak
Waiting for Happiness
Wreckmeister Harmonies
Workingman's Death

The aim of their list was to encompass the relevant aspects of cinema represented in the decade, with films standing in for movements, ideas and filmographies opposed to subjective opinions

Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Interesting to see that Eastern Promises isn't on that list at all. There again, they've got Grizzly Man 89 places above The Lives Of Others, so what the hell do they know.

I just meant that, what with the discussion we've been having about the merits of the two films, they've not included it in 150 films. I wouldn't expect it to be higher than A History of Violence (obviously) but I didn't think there were 143 better films. Certainly not ones called "Grizzly Man".

Actually, taking another look through the list, I'd put it above Million Dollar Baby, Spirited Away, (just because it's anime and I can't watch it) The Royal Tenenbaums, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Mystic River and The Incredibles. And those are just the films I've seen.

I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Wow, I've only seen 5 of those Sight and Sound ones. I was going to make my own list but I see all these lists and there's so many I've not seen yet.

I really need to see The Fountain and 4 Months...

Here are a few great ones from this decade:

In America (2004)
Director: Jim Sheridan

Hotel Rwanda (2004)
Director: Terry George

Iraq in Fragments (2006)
Director: James Longley

There are many good ones that i havent seen from the above lists

Ray

I just watched 4 Months, was great film and everything but think getting bumped a bit too high on these lists. Maybe contextually it represents more significance but as a film would probably be hitting round the #50 on my list
