What are you listening to while you're MoFoin' it?

The People's Republic of Clogher
The Beach Boys - God Only Knows (a capella and, also, without instruments!)

If there's been a better song ever recorded (yes, I know I say this from time to time but hyperbole fits here) I'd love to hear it.

The Beach Boys to me were always a bit cheesy, a bit too 'pop' when I was a teenager. Cheesy, that is, until Pet Sounds finally got a CD release and I first listened to it. Lennon and McCartney surely must have wept a little when they heard that album.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
"City of New Orleans" by Arlo Guthrie

Plus, here's an awesome original version by the songwriter, Steve Goodman

Funny you should post two different versions of the same song, for I was heading to this thread with exactly the same intention!

I think the best person around today when it comes to interpreting other people's songs is Christy Moore but I'm still in two minds which version of Richard Thompson's lovely Beeswing I prefer.

Christy?

Or Richard-y?

They're very similar actually, maybe therein lies my problem...

Love the songs about NOLA... here are a couple of my favorites...
Can you think of any songs about your city that make you clench your fists?

I've got a long list of Belfast songs that aren't allowed within 20 feet of me (Sailortown by Anthony Toner and effing Belfast Child by Simple Minds at the top) but once I hear Cyprus Avenue or Madame George my blood pressure returns to normal.

I Wish I Was In New Orleans ~ Tom Waits
"All the World is Green"
Tom Waits
o/\o

I have a profound love for Tom Waits. And his double bassist there looks like a chilled-out Adolf Hitler.

I'm listening to Casino Versus Japan's 'Come Along, Do'. No YouTube link because it's too goddddam obscure.
