We were Ducked today!

You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.
Hubby and I went into Costco today, and when we came out, we found this cute little duck sitting on the side view mirror of our Jeep Wrangler.

We never heard about it before today, but we looked it up on Duck Duck Jeep, and apparently "Ducking" is a "thing" in the Jeep community where a Jeep owner puts a little rubber duck on another Jeep.

It put a smile on our faces, so we're ordering a bunch of little ducks and "Ducking" tags, and we're planning to pay it forward.

Has anyone else heard of anything like this?

The Adventure Starts Here!
It's not just Jeeps. This is a huge thing among people on cruises: hiding these little ducks everywhere, with notes attached saying where the person is from and wishing good tidings. Folks who find them can either rehide them or keep them. We found one on our last cruise and I rehid it.

At a church conference in June, people were leaving TINY plastic ducks all around the campus. The morning we all left, someone had put one on the hood of my car... so I took a picture and then placed it on the hood of the car next to me.

And here's the one I found on the cruise (in February 2023). There are whole Facebook groups filled with people posting pictures of ducks they found or hid on various cruises (on multiple cruise lines).

We don't go on cruises, so I've never heard of anything like this before, but I think it's a wonderful idea.

We kept the duck we just got, but we're going to buy some ducks to pass on to other Jeepers.

I think that's the smallest duck I've ever seen. It's so cute.

That's a cute duck. I like the ones that are different, rather than the plain yellow ones.
I have a few unusual ducks that I've gotten at garage sales, but this is the first time we got one that was just left on the Jeep.

We're not on Facebook, but I did some Googling about this and I found a lot of pictures of Jeeps covered with little ducks. Apparently it's a thing at the car shows, but somehow we still never heard about it.

Crocheters do something similar. We crochet cute little things like Worry Worms and leave them around places for people to find. The Facebook group is called Random Acts of Kindness.

This Christmas time , I have thought about crocheting Christmas wreaths and other items for tree decorations and leaving them in places I go to.

Here are Worry Worms. My cats love them as toys. Normally you glue eyes on them.

That's such a great thing.

I wonder how many other groups have this type of "pass it on" or "pay it forward" thing that they do.

There are so many bad news stories every day that it's nice to hear about this type of good stuff every once in a while.

Those are cute, and I'd bet that they're even cuter with eyes.
And the yarn tail crocheted in.

I'm not an expert at crocheting but small things that aren't a stuffed toy I can do. I have done stars and Christmas trees.

I'm usually making all kinds of blankets and a few wearable like shawls and granny square cardigans.

I always wanted to be a craft person, but I'm terrible at it. I think that's why I like going to craft shows. I love seeing the great things that other people make.

I used to embroider and do counted cross stitch but as I got older, my vision got bad, so I learned the basics of crochet.

I have done wreath making, baking and candy making in the past. My children are adults and I have no grandchildren to do it for.

Even tried stained glass painting and stenciling.

I can't paint but I have written poetry and short stories.

My favorite craft that I saw at a craft show was a guy who was making beautiful paintings, but he was using crayons and an iron on a heavy waxy cardboard stock. He used the iron to melt the crayons, and then he used the tip of the iron to "draw" the images.

They were such beautiful paintings. I bought one for myself and a few of them as gifts.
