Banned Band & Artist Song Tournament

Tools

Chappie doesn't like the real world
I'm opening this thread now because it will take awhile and I want people to have time to think about their choices.

This tournament will have the exact same rules as the last one (if your new to tournaments just go to the first page of the She-Bop tournament) except any type of music will be allowed from any artist except those banned. Every person that signs up to play will have up to ten bans that they can use on any artist of their choice.

You can use these for singers and bands that you are sick to death of, artists that you think of as "easy wins", or for just something you don't want to hear. The choice is yours. After the banned list is compiled you can only nominate bands and singers that haven't been banned.

Everyone will have up to ten bans. You don't have to use them all, but the more bans we have the more interesting and diverse the tournament will be.

Once you sign up you may start your banned list. For now I will allow you to make changes but please, please keep it all in one post. Makes life easier for me. Obviously, you can't nominate anything yet. I'll let you know when you can.

Have fun! I hope a lot of people sign up for this. I think it will fun.

Chappie doesn't like the real world
Yep. There is tons of music out there. I actually thought about this quite a bit and I'm pretty sure it will end up with less banned artists than if I were to do it the way I had originally planned and dig through all the tournaments and ban everything that had been nominated more than once.

If this were a specific tournament it may be a problem, but this is allowing everyone to dig through all the music ever made.

Chappie doesn't like the real world
It's really not that much. I even overestimated 20 people joining. Even with that number and everyone using all their bans 200 artists out of all the artists there ever has been in all types of music might be somewhat challenging, but there is still literally thousands of artists left.

Banned:
1. The Beatles
2. Michael Jackson
3. Katy Perry
4. Metallica
5. Nicki Minaj
6. Beyoncé
7. Sia
8. Justin Timberlake
9. Eminem
10. Rammstein

You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.
I'm not sure that I understand this tournament.

Everyone is listing up to ten artists that they do NOT want to be allowed to be nominated? Is that correct?

Then, after that list is complete, we will all pick songs from whatever unbanned artists are left?

Chappie doesn't like the real world
That's exactly it.

After more people have made their list, I'll compile a master list alphabetically so that it is easy for everyone.

Okay thanks. How much time do we have to compile our ban list? This could take me a while because I don't know a lot of non-country artists without looking up their song lists.

I'm in, but is Miss Vicky in? That will determine what's on my ban list.

Actually, maybe not. Tom Petty's annoying, but his music is never a threat.

BANNED

1. Jefferson Airplane

3. Heart
4. Roy Orbison
5. Aerosmith

Unless you guys ban a bunch of country artists, I'll still have plenty of artists to choose from.
Oh, there'll be plenty left. But do you want to listen to any of them?

I am, of course, in though.

You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.
If a band is banned, does that also ban each member's solo songs? For example, if The Beatles are banned, are Paul McCartney, John Lennon, etc. also banned?

Also, if an artist is banned, are their hit songs still allowed if the song is sung by an artist that wasn't banned?

I don't know, but I'd guess so long as the song isn't covered by someone else who's banned, there's no problem with that. The solo stuff was a question I was going to ask, too. I'm guessing they'd have to be nominated seperately, but I don't know.
