John Huston is a great writer, as is Richard Brooks, Stanley Kubrick, Billy Wilder.. I love the original work, but even the adapted stuff as well. Kurosawa films also have great dialogue, I just wish I knew Japanese..
What's the criteria you guys use? Personally, I love the most realistic that covers a lot of life, but the other kind is the smooth, economic sentence that covers a lot in such little time, which might not be "realistic" but rational considering you only have a couple of hours.
