Is this worth the watch?

I say yes. My review: I liked Nicolas Cage's performance here, but felt he was underused. I wanted more Cage! Maika Monroe felt a little too reserved and almost wooden at times, but I think that was intentional for the character. I didn't find it scary, but it is creepy and atmospheric and I was engaged to see where they were going with it. The story didn't completely work for me, as there are things that were not explained and didn't really make sense. The actions of various characters stretched believability in some instances. There are some entertaining elements to the film, but for me it doesn't make my list of the best films of the year. 7/10

I am trying to get through this.

I gave it a 5/10.

My take (spoilers)

Watch Nic Cage do his best combo impersonation of The Joker and Tiny Tim. He has a small part over the top part in this movie, thankfully. This is a movie about style and horror tropes and is not a serious horror/serial killer movie. Silence of the Lambs it is not.

You could ask questions about the plot:

How was Lee Harker able to get through school and pass any kind of test to get into the FBI?

Longlegs visits the a survivor in an institution. How could no one remember what he looked like?

Longlegs was driving in one scene and waiting for a bus in another when arrested?

It's better not to ask such questions. I think weed is need to like this. The most overhyped movie of this year.

5/10 for me.

Note: For some reason they play Bang A Gong as the closing song.

I'm unsure what you mean, but many weird and awkward people get through school. And maybe she had a talent that interested the FBI.

Despite his rather unique appearance, he had a habit of being forgotten, almost like there's something supernatural at play

Longlegs was driving in one scene and waiting for a bus in another when arrested?
Yeah, I bet no car owner has ever taken a bus.

I gave Longlegs 7/10 and thought it was a pretty good return to form for Oz Perkins. Not as good as his debut, but according to Letterboxd it's my highest-rated 2024 movie.

A lot more style than substance...but a lot of style.

Part of me wishes less had been spelled out in the end, though I think it mostly coheres.

Interesting movie. If nothing else, the first half had me intensely interested, and that ain't nothin'.

The marketing was genius, the movie.... not so much

Yeah I gave it a 3 out of 10. I was bored to tears for the majority of the movie.

My wife really liked this, but I thought it had some issues. I liked the old school feel of the film and the production values were top notch, but the big exposition dump at the end and Cage's over-the-top performance knocked it down a few pegs - I usually like OtT Cage, but here it didn't work for me. I thought Monroe was great, underplaying an awkwardness that I found both believable and unnerving.

Good, not great.
