I Walked with a Zombie is legit too... but perhaps I should've said the one that shaped the more "modern" notion of the zombie.

Yeah, I was just messin' with ya. I love Night and it's certainly the progenitor of the Modern Zombie Movie. But I'm from New Orleans so, until I was old enough to see Night and then saw Return shortly after, I thought all zombies came from Voodoo. So the OG Zombie Movie, White Zombie, has a special place in my heart. Lugosi doesn't hurt either.
And yeah, as you say, I love I Walked With A Zombie as well.

My favorite is a low budget Danish film.

I might maybe eventually prefer Night of the Living Dead for the awesome Romero direction, but Return has the coolest zombies ever. None of that nonsense about how the real villain is human nature; here, they're actual characters.
