You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.
I don’t think this will work for the simple fact that we don’t have enough people to make it work. IMDb can get away with a top 250 because there are a few million people voting (Shawshank’s score is based on 2,260,466 ratings as I’m typing this). The highest number of participants that any MoFo list has gotten was 99. With such a huge pool of potential films, you’re going to struggle to get enough of a consensus for 100 films. 250 is out of the question, IMO.

You could be right, but it might be fun to try.

OPEN FLOOR.

Even if the points were really low for the bottom 150 movies, still it would be a unique list, with movies that otherwise wouldn't be on it. Of course this is all academic as it's up to the host.

I vote for Top 100 Erotic films list.

We all know Drill Bill will be number one of course, but it could still be fun to see what the other 99 would be. If there aren’t enough participants we’ll just shorten the list to 69.

...But my vote is for Noir because I believe it's a popular genre and we can do specialty Hall of Fames.
We had some great noirs in the last Noir HoF. I'd definitely like to see a Noir Top 100 Countdown sometime in the future. A lot of people will think that noir is only 1940s-50s American b&w movies, but noir encompasses a much broader pallet. There was foreign noir during the classic 40s-50s period. There was proto noir, coming out of expressionism in Germany in the 1930s...And of course there's neo-noir being made even today...think Coen Brothers. I might be up for hosting a Noir HoF in the future.

Indeed, that Noir was amazing. Le Corbeau was the most exciting first time watch for me. Can’t express how great it was.
Even Angel Heart was really good. I ranked it 5th iirc.

Yup...and both of those films you just mentioned aren't usually thought of as 'noirs' but of course they are. If we want a countdown were people can really discover a whole new area of films, a Noir countdown would be it.

All good people are asleep and dreaming.
How many Noir films would show up that aren't already on another list?

I imagine it would be a lot like the western. A list already existed, but a proper MoFo list hadn’t been.

Based on the BFI list...40-50%, none of Hitchcock's noirs made that list. A series of neo-noirs would have likely made the list

I was refering to all the lists.

Welcome to the human race...
That'd be unfair to the host. All that work they'd put in just to have me upstage them and detract all the attention from the countdown.
Then you host it.

I watched 10 Rillington Place, it was really good.

Frenzy must have been based on the same case.

Thursday Next's Avatar
I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
I'm in favour of a general top 100, it's been 10 years after all.

Other lists that would be good:

2000s
2010s
Foreign Language films
Musicals

Maybe you're right about all of them, what do I know. Just saying that whenever I see you put a list of movies into a genre, there's always a few that make me go what the hell.
