Oh, there's a loooooonnng list of these for me. Almost every director nowadays seems to have at least one or two. Here's some that come to my mind right now:

Takeshi Kitano - Brother
Dario Argento - every film after Opera
David Fincher - Alien 3
David Lynch - Dune

Since you mention David Lynch, I didn't like "Fire Walk With Me" but I loved the show. I remember buying it on Amazon, used, and giving it to one friend, and then he would give it to the friend across the street, memories...

Welcome to the human race...
Oscar-winner or not, I kind of wish Scorsese hadn't directed The Departed.

I'd be interested to hear more about this. The general consensus with Scorsese seems to be that he's not nearly as interesting as he once was. I agree with this, but I still do think his current output is pretty solid. I've run into some that just hate everything post-Casino, which I simply don't understand. I enjoyed The Departed.

Boom.

A loving heart is the truest wisdom.
Ridley Scott: Everything after Black Hawk Down (I thought Exodus was decent but not even close to his best)

M. Night Shyamalan: The Last Airbender (he directed lots of crappy movies before this one but given how amazing the source material is I think this is his biggest screwup.)

James Cameron: Avatar

Steven Spielberg: Temple of Doom
Star Wars : The Phantom Menace

Only a little? Your inner child must be made of steel. :P

I wish Sidney Lumet hadn't directed The Wiz

I wish someone besides Richard Beymer had played Tony in West Side Story

I wish John Travolta had played Billy Flynn in Chicago...don't know why he turned the role down.

I wish anyone other than Katharine Houghton played Joey Drayton in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?...she was absolutely dreadful in that movie.

I wish Julie Andrews had played Eliza in the film version of My Fair Lady, but if she had, she wouldn't have been able to do Mary Poppins, my all-time favorite movie.

I wish Doris Day had played Nellie Forbush in the 1958 musical South Pacific

I wish that Steven Spielberg hadn't made any of the Indiana Jones sequels, or Jurassic Park's Lost World, for that matter. They're all inferior.

I thought the first 2 IJ sequels were good (The 4th movie is another story). And despite the hate it gets I actually quite like The Lost World JP, although it isn't nowhere near as good as The First One (As You can tell from my top 10 ) I never expect sequels to be better than the Original.

Jeez, where I do I start on this subject?

I wish Richard Attenborough hadn't directed the film version of A Chorus Line.

I wish someone other than Helena Bonham Carter played Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

I wish Katharine Houghton hadn't played Joey Drayton in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? I'm pretty sure she only got the role due to being Katharine Hepburn's niece and resembling her but the woman can't act and kept a great film from being a masterpiece.

Patty Duke never should have agreed to play Neeley O'Hara in Valley of the Dolls, for my money, the worst single performance by an actor in cinema history.

I wish will Ferrell hadn't played Darrin the Bewitched movie...Jim Carrey should have played that part.

Diana Ross shouldn't have played Dorothy in the film version of The Wiz, Michael Jackson shouldn't have played the Scarecrow and Sidney Lumet shouldn't have directed the film.

Marlon Brando shouldn't have played Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls.

Though I understand the casting and why it happened the way it did, Audrey Hepburn had no business playing Eliza Dolittle in My Fair Lady

I'm not old, you're just 12.

With the exception of Crystal Skull, all the Indy sequels are gold. As a kid, The Last Crusade was one of my most watched films. I could not imagine that having not been made. I liked Lost World, but no it's not as good as the original.

I wish that there hadn't been any Star Wars prequels. They aren't good, they don't sync up well with the originals, and they turn the most evil bad ass in the galaxy (Darth Vader) into an Emo.
