You can`t say that in general. There is no world-record to break. What makes Marlon Brando better than Kevin Spacey? Or Al Pacino? Or the other way around? Personal taste. (I´m well aware, that many Mofos just love all kind of lists, so no offense, go on. ).

Personally I see Al Pacino and Meryl Streep in the Hall of Fame.

I just kinda went with who I think is the most talented of my favorite actors. Who's given the most great performances, and that sort of thing.

I'd guess that the posters you're talking about are quite young and, therefore, won't have seen too many films outside of the mainstream. Certainly less likely to have seen less mainstream films that weren't horror or violence orientated. I could, of course, be totally wrong. It happens from time to time.
