R.I.P. Jimmy Wang Yu

Damn, R.I.P.

This is from a while ago, but I enjoyed this interview he did with Grady Hendrix for the now inactive Kaiju Shakedown column: https://www.filmcomment.com/blog/kai...jimmy-wong-yu/

Also, I'll show some love to The Man From Hong Kong, which is just wall to wall action scenes, all of which are awesome and go on way longer than you'd expect (in a good way). Also features Sammo Hung sporting a terrible mustache.

"Honor is not in the Weapon. It is in the Man"
RIP to a martial arts film legend. Jimmy Wang Yu had been responsible for helping Jackie Chan out a jam when he was threatened by the Triads in the early 80s. Jackie would end up appearing in "Fantasy Mission Force" (1981) and "Island on Fire/The Prisoner" (1990) as a "thank you" to Jimmy. Jimmy even starred and directed the 1st film pitting Chinese kung fu vs. Japanese karate in "The Chinese Boxer", a full-year before the iconic Bruce Lee's "Fist of Fury". These two films set the rivalry between these two arts in 1970s kung fu films.

Jimmy returned to an amazing comeback with Donnie Yen's "Wu Xia", where he was the lead villain. His legacy will be forever remembered. RIP Jimmy Wang Yu.
